This copy had been in the same family since that time until my purchase. There are no other markings. Pages are foxed but quite readable, binding is firm. 267 pages. Each volume has a frontis with a tissue guard plus another three illustrations many are illustrated by John Lokwood Kipling. Neat ownership marking on ffep in most volumes. London, 1771 Hardcover Very Good A very nice copy, original full leather boards, recently rebacked with handmade paper in a walnut stain Black title block with gold lettering Printed for John Nourse and Paul Vaillan, 442 pages plus index Original owner's name and date neatly written on the ffep, 'Thomas Kerrick 1785' Unmarked, bright pages with a very small amount of tanning at the top The flaw in this copy was discoverd by an early owner and noted in pencil inside the front cover 'page 43 repaired', Page 43 has a tear which someone took the time to painstakingly repair by stitching with silk thread The repair has held 'pages 243-88 misbound', is also penciled inside the cover but this has been corrected by the binder who did the rebacking

Issued over a period of time, this set grew to 36 volumes over a period of many years. Dates on this set range from 1899 - 1920. all volumes have clean, clear pages, b&w frontis with printed tissue guard, other b&w illustrations within. Two copies bear an owners signature and one has light pencil marking inside the front cover, otherwise they are unmarked. They are bound in red cloth, save volume 28 which matches in olive (the front of 28 is sunned), the front covers each have a gold border and white medallion in the center with an embossed elephant. This medallion is bordered in gold. Spines have gold lettering and a very nice art nouveau floral decoration in gold. Top edges gilt. A few volumes show wear at the top of the spine. Otherwise, the textblock is firm and the pages bright and unmarked.

When the portfolio is opened, there are three double page spreads that have numbers on the pictures to correspond with the punch-outs. These are Adventureland, Frontierland and Tomorrowland. The Fantasyland figures are to be attached to the outside cover of the book per instructions. All the sheets are intact.. The cover is paper over boards, the corners and front edges have light wear, the bottom inch of the paper at the spine fold is worn through. Bright colorful and unmarked.

The front and back boards are detached.There is an owner's name in faint pencil, dated 1872 on the ffep. this same name is written in neat script inside the back board with an address in New Jersey. the pages are sewn with string and one signature has pulled loos. Despite the condition of the binding, a very nice example of children's publishing in this era.
