The Roycrofters, 1903-01-01. Hardcover. Good. Thin folio, 36pp. One of a few 'tall' copies printed on Roycroft handmade paper. The 1905 and 1906 catalogues list the printing numbers of the tall copies only as "a few". This copy is bound in soft gray paper-covered boards with leather spine. The spine is fading and heavily worn, but the gilt word "FRIENDSHIP" is still plainly visible on the spine. There is substantial wear at the base of the spine. The colophon identifies the creator of the illuminated ornaments as Samuel Warner. There are two beautifully illuminated initials in the text, The first of these on page 1 in green, blue and yellow with gilt lettering, the second of these on page 21 uses similar colors with gilt lettering. The colophon is illumined in shades of dark yellow (but not gilt). Although the cover shows wear, especially at the base of the spine, the book istelf is in good condition with modest wear.
