However, whatever material was once over top of this white cloth is completely missing in the entire from the entire spine. The white cloth is strong and holding the binding in place. Pages in good condition. 5 Folded maps laid in, including world map and map of Jerusalem. Text in Dutch. Reprint of the 1657 edition. Some damp staining to first 50 pages or so near the spine area. Someone, in pencil, nnumbered the first approx. 200 pages.

This is from Mr. Henry Judd's obit: From 1973 until his retirement he served as chief historical architect; responsible for all programs involving historic architecture within the National Park system. He was a member of the US preservation team visiting the Soviet Union in 1974 for the US-USSR Joint Working Group on the Enhancement of the Urban Environment. Mr. Judd died in 2004

From the DJ front flap: Jacob Scarr lefr the Russian Ukraine for American as a 15 year old boy. Life in the Ukraine was difficult for a Jew at the turn of the century. His descriptions of the realities fo the immigrant's life in Newark, NJ and of his own struggles to establish himself in a new and strange land are warmly alive.

This passage was found in 'Annals of Buffalo Valley' for the year 1849. I've left the paragraph intact referencing Dr. Thomas A.H. Thorton to give the start of his medical practice a reference point in the history of America. Doctor \r\nThomas A. H. Thornton commenced the practice of medicine at Lewisburg. The Berlin iron-works were blown out, and Forest iron-works in the hands of the sheriff. The California gold fever reached the Valley, and on the 26th of February, R. B. Green, David Howard, Cyrus Fox, W. H. \r\nChamberlin, Frederick Schaffle and John U. Musser, set out for \r\nCalifornia, by the overland route. James K. Kelly, James M. Robley Dunglison (1798-1869) was an English physician who moved to America to join the first faculty of the University of Virginia. He was personal physician to Thomas Jefferson and considered the ""Father of American Physiology"".

John Stewart Service (1909-1999) was an American diplomat who served in the Foreign Service in China prior to and during the World War II. His 64 publications spanned a full 6 decades, and included significant papers on number theory, combinatorics, complex analysis, and geometry, in addition to logic and set theory. Robinson's work on undecidability culminated in his coauthoring Tarski et al. (1953), which established, among other things, the undecidability of group theory, lattice theory, abstract projective geometry, and closure algebras. Edmund Landau (1877-1938) In 1903, Landau gave a much simpler proof than was then known of the prime number theorem and later presented the first systematic treatment of analytic number theory in the Handbuch der Lehre von der Verteilung der Primzahlen, or simply the Handbuch. Kofoid (1865-1947) was an American zoologist known for his collection and classification of many new species of marine protozoans which established marine biology on a systematic basis. Vol. 1.1 (front hinge cracked) and 1.2, 827pp.; Vol. 2.1 and 2.2 (front hinge cracked), 989pp.; Vol. 3.1 and 3.2, 1,097pp. Professor Gravenhorst (1777-1857), is the author of a great monograph on the Ichneumon Flies (Ichneumonologia Europaea), one of the most difficult and extensive groups of insects.
