In the fall of 1785, after Revolutionary War service, Greene and family settled to Mulberry Grove in Chatham County, Georgia, near Savannah, where land had been gifted from the State of Georgia and the Carolinas, yet Nathanael's time there would be short -within one year, Greene was dead. The children's tutor, Phineas Miller, took up the role of plantation manager. It is within this time period that this letter was written, I have sent you the best assortment of garden seeds I am now able to procure - They are from a retailer, who received them fput up, mark'd and warranted from Col. Toned, early pagination in ink, assumed once in a tract volume, small hole to title (front margin), leaves closely cropped, a few minor stains. Third edition, being expanded. Coale was one of the earliest Quaker explorers of Pennsylvania and early missionary in the New World (according to the Papers of William Penn, Vol. 5, Coale was likely the first Quaker to touch Pennsylvania soil in 1658.) Coale was one of William Penn's intimate friends during his first years as a Quaker, the first secition of his "Song" written while he was "travelling in the Wilderness...on Long-Island". The last section comprises Coale's dying words, before which is a Testimony concerning Lodowick Muggleton - 'He is a Son of Darkness, and a Co-Worker with the Prince of the Bottomless-Pit.

B/w photographs throughout, primarily of the march and demonstrations in Stockholm. Within, two full color chromolithographed and heavily gilt folio pages laid in, suitable for framing. This compelling keepsake marks the occasion of the ‚Bondetaget, February 6, 1914, where 30,000 farmers marched to and rallied in Stockholm. It was there King Gustav V proclaimed the need for continued warship production and expanded defense spending. The Kings speech (Baileys Speech) created a constitutional crisis, a conflict between monarchy and ministry, which led to the ousting of the liberal Prime Minister Karl Staaff, whose defense reductions threatened the secure conservatism of the folk and farm population. Of note is a micrographic circular rendition of the Lord's Prayer measuring 3/4", within a border of handdrawn religious and Masonic symbols, the whole having a diameter of 1 -3/16"

New York, 1920. Paper . Very good +. The story of City Hospitals land is ominous, now laying in ruins to the East of Manhattan and highlighted by some as an architecturally distinct ghost tour. Approximated by completed construction, dress of subjects and presence of Queensboro bridge, the photos post-date 1909. Possibly the first time many of the residents were the subject of photography, or the first photographic documentation of the island on site. Through the 19th century, then known as Blackwells island, the island housed several hospitals and a prison, built from the stone underfoot. Buildings included the New York City Lunatic Asylum, The Smallpox Hospital, later the gothic lighthouse built again by convict labor, the last prisoners leaving the island by 1935 when Rykers is erected. During the outbreak of smallpox, the island became known as Pest Island, when nurses and workers were scarce the prison population contributed to the operations of the site. [Myron Smith] Lowell, American stage actor and playwright, author of famous religious play The Shepherd King and star of the Broadway production (playing David). Lorimer, a Colgate College (Massachusetts) graduate, Oxford post-grad, Dearborn Stock Company of Chicago theatre member, then surprisingly: Pennsylvania baptist preacher, marriage and a gig as a poultry farmer ..then 15-year old Zelda ran away with him in Michigan, all that before the iconic role of King David. The Lofty and Exalted Order of Uplifters or simply The Uplifters was an invitation-only social club at the Los Angeles Athletic Club originally founded by Harry Marston Haldeman and L. Frank Baum in 1913. Upon Haldeman's arrival in Los Angeles, he sought to create a mens club similar to The Bugs. Membership included Marco H. Hellman, Sim W. Crabill, Ralph Hamlin, Ernest R. Ball, Byron Gay, Will Rogers, Walt Disney, Spencer Tracy, Clark Gable, Busby Berkeley, Leo Carrillo, Harold Lloyd, Darryl F. Zanuck, Ferde Grofé, Eugene Biscailuz, Hays Rice, Clarence R. Rundel, Louis F. Gottschalk, and L. Frank Baum. Baum created the group's name, wrote its anthem, "Haldeman," and scripted most of their amateur theatricals until his death. The majority of the Uplifters were successful businessmen; local actors and artists contributed their talents instead of paying dues. L.
