Rome: Bartholomaeum Zannettum, 1612. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcovers, original matched set bound in thin flexible vellum style binding. Front and rear boards are tooled with gilt logo and the initials FAA. Spines are banded with hand labeled text. The interior bindings are similar in respect to the text portion of the pages. Nothing torn or loose and only minor foxing is present. Volume 1 contains two names on the title page and short text on the front end page. The rewritten page of a small number written in the upper right corner. Volume 2 is only a single name written on the title page but both the front and rear end pages contain a paragraph of writing which appears to be in Latin. The pastedowns on both volumes have issues with volume 2 shows quite a bit of lifting and tearing. Rome: ex typographia Guillelmi Facciotti, 1602. Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, thin vellum covered boards with handwritten title on spine. Exterior spotted and darkened along with edge and corner wear. The front and rear boards each have two pinholes, each measuring about 2.25 inches from the outside corners. The internal binding is acceptable though there is some pulling in spots. The binding is still quite secure though and pages are tight. The front pastedown has some notes in pencil and an early bookplate from the English cleric and writer Reverend Frederic William MacDonald. Going through the pages of the book we found a few pages with some light pencil notes and/or initials. These are minor and may be erased if desired but we consider them part of the book's history. Lugduni: Apud Haeredes Gulielmi Rouillii, 1602. Hardcover. Fair. 32mo - over 4 - 5" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original thin flexible vellum boards with knotted strings on turn-ins still being present, and handwritten title on spine. Exterior shows wrinkling to the vellum along with some soiling and scuffing, old paper label is present on spine. There is also a letter X on the front cover which is written in either blue or green pencil. Internal binding is good in text pages are tight. The front pastedown contains a similar numbered paper label along with a bookplate from the Biblioteca del Duque de Medinaceli y Santisteban. The title page has 8-5 written at the bottom edge. This appears to be the only handwriting found in the book, no other markings or library references. The reason for the low condition grade is because wormholes are present. London: William Blackwood and T. Cadwell, 1822. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1822 publication and not a modern reprint. Book exterior is playing paper covered boards with green cloth to spine (possibly applied at a later date). Spine also contains label written by hand. Exterior is spotted and soiled and boards are frayed and worn on edges/corners. The interior binding is in better shape as the book received very little, if any use as numerous quadrants of pages are still uncut along either the top edge or fore edge. The book even has the original errata slip tipped in at the contents page. Front hinge shows openings if you open the book too far. The front pastedown contains notes lightly written in pencil and dated 1855. One of the pencil notes states "Brotherhead July 9, 1855. This copy compared with another copy and found complete. Philadelphia, PA: American Sunday School Union, 1856. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Augustus Kollner. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, large rectangular boards covered in blind stamped brown cloth with gilt text on front. Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with numerous holes the cloth along the edges and spine area. Internal binding is good though it appears the center section (entitled Waiting For A Job and The Rag-Tailor) may have been reattached at some point as the outside fore edge is pages shows fraying. Pages are toned due to age and foxing and spotting is present. There are a few scattered dampstains as well as smudge marks. The original owners name is penciled on the front pastedown along with a faded first name on the opposite end page. His name is also penned in the upper right corner of the title page. Mannington, WV: Published by the Author / Charles Austin Whiteshot, 1905. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover black cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. An absolutely beautiful copy which could be considered as-new. This copy was discovered in the spring of 1980 still sealed in the publishers crate at a old book company warehouse in Shepherdstown, WV. The wooden crate is no longer around but one of the original printing books survived, which is what is available here. Pebbled black cloth boards are clean and corners are crisp except for two issues on the rear board: There's a light scuff near the bottom edge and a small hole in the gutter of the rear exterior spine area that can be easily filled in (see last photo). The binding is tight as book was never used, pages are clean and corners are sharp. The book is so perfect it looks like a reprint but it is the actual 1905 edition and may be the finest one in… Leer más

Los Angeles, CA: Philosophical Research Society Press, 1936. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green clapboards with gilt to spine. Exterior shows minor handling wear corner bumps, the worst issue being several small spots near the spine edges. Interior biting is good, no hinge issues. Pages are faintly tone due to age and some minor spotting is present. Generically inscribed signed by the author on the front end page: "Best wishes of Manly P. Hall". Front end page also has residue from pencil pricing along the top edge and corner. Stated first edition on the title page. A scarce book and extremely rare to have signed by the author.

Napoli (Naples, Italy): Nella Stamperia di Gio. Francesco Paci, 1724. 2nd Edition . Hardcover. Good. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original vellum boards with hand written title on spine. Exterior is soiled and quite darkened, front cover has remnants of an old paper label and rear board has what appears to be a bit of handwriting in the top left corner. The internal binding is good in text pages are tight. The front pastedown has a bit of writing in the upper left corner and the first title page also contains a signature, presumably of the original owner. No other handwriting found in the book, no library markings, no bookplates. This volume appears to be six different books, each one bound with its own title page and all bearing the same 1724 date. There are numerous large foldout illustrations, some of which show tape repairs. Pages are darkened due to age and foxing is present throughout, with some pages being severe. Philadelphia, PA: Published for the Author, 1873. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1873 publication which is inscribed (but not signed) by the author as a Christmas gift: "Presented to Miss Jane [last name unreadable] with Author's Complements, Dec 25th, 1874.". The book actually contains two titles, first one being The Great Trial (372 pages) and Flowers of Fancy (100 pages) for a total of 472 pages. The book itself is in excellent condition except for the exterior cloth which shows spotting along with some spine fading. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No other handwriting other than that from the author, no bookplates, no library markings etc. The front end page and pastedown shows a rectangle mark which is likely from a piece of paper sitting there for many decades. Bostonii (Boston): Sumptibus Cummings & Hilliard, 1812. First US Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original full leather binding with lightly banded spine. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling along with minor scratches. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. Internal binding is good in text pages are secure. Paper is darkened due to age and moderate foxing is present throughout. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no handwriting found. The front end page is a chunk missing on the lower outside corner area. This edition, printed in Boston, is in both Greek and Latin and is the first US printing of the title in this format. Uncommon to find without library markings or handwriting. Text is in both Greek and Latin. There is a slight warp to the front board which should be able to be pressed out.

Philadelphia, PA: George W. Jacobs & Company, 1909. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, a beautiful example of this scarce biography in borderline fine condition. Blue cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Gilt is bright and cloth shows only minor spotting and handling with the exception of the rear board which has a loss to the cloth finish along the outside turn-in edge. There is also a faint bump in the cloth at the upper right corner. This is the reason why this book is not great as fine. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. This book came from the collection of Miss Sallie E. Robinson, who was a very prominent African-American from the Philadelphia area, and her signature appears on the front pastedown and the very last index page. Pages are clean and paper is bright. Hardcover, no dust jacket. 1 st Edition of the only Novel by Carr under Fairbairn pseudonym. Black cloth boards with yellow text on spine. First edition thus, with copyright page stating only a single date of " First Published 1934" with text at the bottom of the page stating it was printed in Guernsey, Channel Islands, British Isles. Book is free and clear of any handwriting or bookplates, no torn or loose pages, binding good. Top edge mildly dust darkened. Book condition VG+. See photos.

Hieronymi Agricolae, et Michaelis Wagner, 1649. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Original hardcover, thin marbled boards. First published in 1649 of which this book states the date. 331 pp plus listing of questions. Title page carries the cachet "Gymnas, Imm.Conc.Soc.S., Paris, Ad Vall, Gir., IHS" (appears to be ex-lib.) and the bottom 1/4" of the page was cut off as it appears to have been done to remove a signature. Binding strong and pages tight. No worn or loose pages. No underlining or handwriting other than a small notations in the corners of both board pastedowns.

New York: Edition De Luxe, 1882. Limited Edition . Hardcover. Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 19th century publication limited to just 50 copies. Full title reads as follows: "The Trial of Carlyle W. Harris, A transcript, in narrative form, from the Official Stenographer's Minutes taken at the trial before Recorder Smyth in the Court of General Sessions of the Peace, January Term, 1882". Published by Edition De Luxe and limited to 50 copies. Brown cloth exterior shows moderate to heavy wear/bumps to edges and corners, boards are soiled and spine is lumpy with remnants of a paper label at the top. Interior pages are tone due to age and scattered foxing and spotting is present. No signatures or bookplates though scattered pages have minor penciling, mainly check marks the one page showed a word written. First book is "Regularum utriusque iuris cum ampliationibus ac limitationibus liber primus" dated 1557 - 661 0pp. plus lengthy index. Second book is "Tomus II Regularum Ad Reliquas Regul. Petri a Duenas adiectus & ex iuris corpore summa cum diligentia collectarum " dated 1567, 103 pp. plus index. Publisher: ad candentis Salamandrae insigne. Full leather bound, speckled edges. Appears to be an eighteenth century rebound. First book has writing and underlining present, 2nd book in bound copy appears clean and brighter. Exterior leather is in nice shape with only minor splits.

Philadelphia, PA: George W. Jacobs & Company, 1907. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, navy blue cloth boards with gilt on spine. Exterior shows moisture damage to the fore edges on both front and rear boards. Front board is the worst as the outside edge is bowed down slightly. Damage is limited to the outside only though front end page and paste down shows a small corner stain. Internal binding is good and pages are tight. Previous owner's name (Sallie E. Robinson) along with the date of 9/19/1923 is written at the top of the front page. First edition thus with single date of June, 1907 appearing on the copyright page. No other handwriting, all text pages are clean, no library markings, no bookmarks present.

Leipzig und Stokholm: Gottfried Kiesewetter, 1749. Hardcover. Good+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Two books rebound into one edition. First book is by Patrick Delany entitled "Historische Untersuchung des Lebens und der Regierung Davids des Königs von Israel - Dritter Theil" 432 pp with a publication date of 1749. Second book is by Adolph Christoph von Aken entitled "Glaube und Sitten Davids, des andern Königes im Volke Gottes, zur Schadloshaltung der Warheit und Religion" Leipzig: Kiesewetter 1746 (first published in 1746) 462 pp. The only other reference to this second volume was found in the University Library Erlangen-Nuremberg. Both editions are bound into a single volume, likely a very early rebound. Covered in unknown animal hide with brown spot on front board. Both front and rear boards and end pages have scattered pen marks and writing. All other pages good. No pages torn or loose.

Paris: Audot et Cie., 1809. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, marbled paper covered boards with leather to spine. The board show edge and corner wear but the spine is nearly completely gone. The book is still in one piece but when you open the boards you can see gaps, with the front board be in the largest. This appears to be the first edition with the date of 1809 appearing on both the title page in the preface letter. The only locations known to have a copy of the 1809 edition are the KU Leuven Libraries in Belgium, where a search of the Religious Studies Discovery Environment (ReIReSearch) shows them having both volume 1 and volume 2. This is only "Tome Premier" or, volume 1st. This copy came from a church library with a large oval stamp on the title page reading Redemptorist Library, St. Alphonsus Church of New Orleans. There is also some handwriting on the title page with the line at the top… Leer más

New York: Peabody, Macey, and Co., 1882. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Extremely rare Hardcover, first edition thus. Original. Plaid pink and lavender endpapers are clear of any handwriting or bookplates. Inscribed but not signed by the author on the fly - appears to state: 'Warren Smith - presented by the Author." Also has a signature of Emily Smith Wallace. A nice VG+ condition book.

New York: The Neale Publishing Company, 1916. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, maroon cloth boards with gilt text on spine. This is the original 1916 publication and not a modern reprint. Exterior shows some light damp staining along the edges and spine is mildly darkened. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no bookplates, no library markings, no signatures. The only handwriting found in the book is on the rear end page where there is a light "10" with the line above it penciled in the upper corner. The book would normally great as a strong VG to VG+ but the interior pages show some waviness in the upper outside corner quadrant, which is likely also caused by moisture. This does not affect the readability of the book in any way and this issue may be able to be pressed out.
