Wikipedia: She was born at Royalston, Massachusetts, in 1836. She worked in a mill in New Hampshire for several years.[2] Her fame rests upon the popular poem, "Over the River", published in the Springfield Republican in 1857. According to some accounts, she wrote the first draft of the poem while at work in the mill.[2][3]
In 1865, she was married to Lieut. Arlington C. Wakefield. She died at Winchendon, Massachusetts, in 1870,[4] leaving behind her husband and three children, one only an infant.
Her poems were published 13 years after her death by her mother, Mrs. Francis D. Priest, with a memoir by the Rev. Abijah Perkins Marvin (Boston, 1883).

NY: W. W. Norton. Very Good- with no dust jacket. 1932. First Edition; First Printing. Moderate outer wear, spine darkened. John A. Blum's copy dated 1/14/36 ffep. Handwritten on the rear endpapers, Blum (a Macy's executive) recounts a dinner with the author on 20 Feb, 1936. In part it reads: "After dinner last night, Mr Allison & I were talking about M. Thiers and he told me the real story of Thier's death...this ending...is of such a nature that its inclusion in a biography of this nature would ruin the whole thing, according to JMSA." The notes also address the circumstances of Thiers's birth, which are mainly lost or avoided in the literature extant. Allison's findings are related here by Blum, dated 21 February 1936. 8vo; 294 pages. bx126

Emily Clark Huntington Miller (October 22, 1833 – November 2, 1913) was an American author, editor, poet, and educator who co-founded St. Nicholas Magazine, a publication for children. Earlier in her career, she served as the Assistant Editor of The Little Corporal, a children's magazine and Associate Editor of the Ladies' Home Journal. Miller and Jennie Fowler Willing were involved with organizing a convention in Cleveland in 1874,[1] at which the National Woman's Christian Temperance Union was formed.[2] In September 1891, Miller was appointed Dean of Women at Northwestern University in Illinois.
