This book was owned by Harold Jefferson Coolidge, his book plate is within the front board, prominent lawyer and the great great grandson of Thomas Jefferson and distant relative of President Calvin Coolidge! This book came from the estate of John Robert Gregg, the inventor of the Gregg Shorthand writing system from his property in York, Maine.

CONDITION: Book has edge and corner wear. Exposed corners, some fading and scuffing. End page has some penciling and a tear. Heavy foxing to the end pages front and back, some foxing throughout the book. Rip to the bottom pages 23-26, doesn't now affect the text in any manor. 8 Engravings. Books is complete and held well. Light water stain to the top right corner that runs through the the title page to page 17. 252 pages. See pictures for condition references, ask questions before purchasing!

Black cloth boards. Gold gilt stamp of a bear in a trap on the front board. Wear to the boards, edge and corner wear, corners exposed. Some chipping of the boards. Bottom and top spine bands are not present. Heavy chipping/exposure of the spine's edges. Pages have small sporadic stains, no foxing. There is some toning and smudging within. Four plates counted within the book. Previous owners name neatly penned to the end page.

History of New York City, From Discovery to The Present Day by William Stone. Virtue & Yorston, New York 1872. 20 engravings and 85 woodcuts, many beautiful portraits of American historical figures.
Marbled boards with 3/4 brown leather corners and spine/edge. Board edges have rubbing and chipping. Board corners are exposed and slightly sloped. Spine face/edges have creasing/lightly stressed. Outer page fore edges have marbling design as well as toning. Inner boards and end pages also have marble pattern. Some plates/surrounding pages have foxing. Most plates have original tissue-guards. Tissue-guards have transfer staining from plates. Pages have light toning around the edges. Front end pages, title pages, frontispiece/tissue guard all have foxing. Book held well. Album of Salt Lake City Utah, Ca. 1880's, Images Include: Mormon Temple (Under Construction), Brigham Young Home, Also Included is a picture of Assembly Hall, some Protestant churches and a hotel. 11 pages of text in the back. Sales Stamp of "Low Bros. News Agents, Ogden, Utah" within. OCLC locates one copy in each of four libraries. Obscure.
Album consisting of 14 accordion panels. Size: 3x5" and an eleven p. text. Circa 1880's. Cloth, Stamped gilt lettering, bright and crisp, with sales stamp of "Low Brothers, Ogden Utah." One image has a paste-on errata correction. The text is laid down against rear cover. The panels are loose from the book but all connected with each other with the last panel being the exception. The very first panels fold is actually held to the second by a small piece of tape. As you can see from the pictures the panels themselves are not attached anymore to the boards.
