Inscribed on the front inside cover to Maud Allan "from the author Jun. 18". (It is not certain this is the very famous and infamous Maud Allan, the Canadian actress/performer.) Landon's only book of (13) stories including the very famous and much anthologized Thurnley Abbey. A fabulous collection of weird stories, uncommon inscribed.

Stunning jacket is very good with some smudging to the spine and back cover. Tape repairs to short closed tears on inside of jacket but no creases or areas of loss. Scarce, especially with the jacket in such good shape.

New York: Random House, 1948. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. First edition of Capote's first novel. The book is fine in publisher's buff cloth with red type embossed to the spine. Binding is tight and square and the text block shows only minor age toning. There is a previous owner's name in pen on the ffep. Inscribed by Capote, doubtless to that owner, on the title page: "For George his friend Truman Capote". The jacket still has not been clipped and still shows the original price of $2.75. There is minor wear to the extremities, modest chipping to the top of the spine and a small area of loss to the front hinge between cover and flap. On the back, the famous photo of a amazingly youthful Capote lounging on a sofa. Overall, a lovely copy of an American classic.

Very minor wear to spine ends and extremities. Some minor foxing. Overall, a very nice copy of a scarce edition. Republished in the U.S. as Full Circle.

The novel that introduced SPECTRE and the deliciously evil Ernst Stavro Blofeld to the world. Also the basis for a subsequent lawsuit that resulted in credit eventually being given as "Based on a screen treatment by Kevin McClory, Jack Whittingham and Ian Fleming". The book is clean, square, tight, and internally unmarked. The jacket is very good, though it has been price clipped and, unfortunately, has a small piece of tape to both the top and the bottom of the spine on the inside. A lovely copy of a typically bleak novel by Ballard, recently made into a feature film. The pictorial dust jacket has not been price clipped and has no creases or tears, though the jacket edges have some age toning. The book is clean and unmarked, with minor toning to the edges. Inscribed by Ballard on the title page. Overall, a beautiful inscribed copy.

McClelland & Goodchild, 1913. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket. First Canadian edition. Two volumes. No dust jacket. Scott persists as perhaps the most famous tragic hero in the annals of exploration, and the source of recent controversy. Whatever his shortcomings, unquestionably, Scott was a man of extraordinary courage, determination and literacy. With only minor foxing and slight fading to the spines, this is a beautiful set of his deservedly famous diaries as first published, with minor editorial deletions.

Lovely first edition, first state, two-volume set, bound from the original parts, with stab marks occasionally showing. Shows all relevant first edition points, including "B2" at the bottom of page 371; "Rigaud" for "Blandois" on pages 469, 470, 472, and 473, and a three-line erratum at the end of the table of contents. Forty etched plates including the eight "dark" plates, frontis, and title page vignette. The list of plates erroneously includes only thirty-nine, a plate on page three having been missed. Rebound in recent uniform rust boards with the gilt initials CD embossed to front covers. Gilt date 1857, lettering, and flower device to spine. A lovely set of Dickens, historically and biographically important in this first state format

London:, 1920. 3rd Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Third impression of the Pearson Cheap edition, originally published in 1916 and written by Prichard and his mother. The book comprises several experiences of Flaxman Low, credited as being the first psychic detective. The stories had been previously published in periodicals and collected in 1899's The Experiences of Flaxman Low, of which this current volume contains selections only. The book is Near Fine in publisher's red cloth, with no fading or marking. There is some bumping and minor wear to the extremities. The jacket is lovely, bright and crisp, with areas of modest wear and damage as befits an inexpensively produced 100-year-old book. There is no significant loss to the jacket at all. It is a lovely copy of a delicate book. Note that, despite Pearson's assertion on the spine, these stories are pure fiction, and delightful at that.

Previous owner and probable inscribee George Stupakis has written his name in pen on the ffep. The book is tight, square and clean with minor age toning to the text block. The jacket, though bright and crisp overall, has been clipped, has some wear to the extremities and the hinges and loss to the top corners of the front cover, where it meets both the spine and the front flap. Still an attractive copy of an excellent and important work.

Credited on the title page as by Fleming with Vivienne Michel. This is a lovely copy with all correct points. The jacket is near fine. It has been price clipped and there is a small area of wear to the inside of the front cover. The book is fine with a faint whiff of tobacco. The silver dagger embossed to the front, and the lettering to the spine, are both bright and clean. Another great Chopping jacket design. Gilbert: First impression, State A; A102 (1.1)

Published in 1931 "For Private Circulation", this is the first and only edition of a remarkable record, by Mrs. Dickson, recounting her various communications with her late son, Peter. As she states in her forward, "I have compiled this book simply to have a record of what I hope are messages and information received from Peter during the many hours we have sat with different mediums and I sincerely hope with Peter present too. It is not for one's own comfort that one takes up this work, but to try to find out, unceasingly, if they are 'all right' on the 'other side'." An example of the interaction between sitter and medium: I: Peter was ill 3 days. All this is correct and referred to at previous sittings. His head and throat were very painful. London: A & F Pears, 1912. 1st thus . Hardcover. Very Good. Lovely set of all five Christmas books, published by the Pears Soap Company in honour of Dickens' centenary. The first four titles, variously, have twenty-seven illustrations (A Christmas Carol), thirty illustrations (The Chimes and The Haunted Man), and twenty-nine illustrations (The Battle of Life), all from original drawings by Charles Green. The fifth title, The Cricket on the Hearth, has twenty-two illustrations from original drawings by L. Rossi. All volumes are bound in attractive coloured cloth (variously red, blue, light brown, moss green, light green) with gilt lettering. Front covers feature a uniform cameo of an angelic, beautifully dressed young boy with a lovely complexion, doubtless due to regular use of Pears. Advertisements for Pears soap on final pages. End-papers bear elaborate Pears trademark and logo with prominent mention, "By Appointment to Their Majesties The King & Queen". A lovely set with… Leer más

London: Chapman & Hall, 1844. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. H.K. Browne (Phiz). This is a Fine first edition, bound in leather and marbled boards, with gilt to spine. With forty engraved illustrations, including frontispiece and title page, by Phiz (Hablot Knight Browne). Binder's error has 1848 embossed on spine rather than the correct 1844. Fourteen-line errata following table of contents but with pound sign preceding "100" on signpost on title page thus an early issue of the first edition. Excellent condition with minor foxing and browning to pages. In particular, the plate edges have remarkably little of the discolouration common in Dickens first editions. Slight staining to very top edge of "Nuptials" plate. Neat repair to outer edge of pages 609 and 610. A wonderful Dickens first edition, beautifully bound, bibliographically interesting with the mixed points and, in particular, with barely blemished page engravings.
