The story Ships and Men, part 2, by Bedford-Jones and Williams is graced by 3 illustrations of a nude woman by ALEX RAYMOND, famed for the comic strips Flash Gordon, Jungle Jim and Rip Kirby. These illustrations, and the ones done for the first part of the story in the January 1937 issue, are the ONLY pulp work done by Raymond (Tom Roberts: Alex Raymond His Life and Art, pp 113-116). Small splits and chipping to spine extremities, a likely unread VG+ to near fine copy.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good+ to Near Fine. Artist Elliott Dold provided the front cover, interior illustrations, and wrote the main story. Cover creases, edgewear, 4 inch split to front cover-spine top edge, spine partly gone, front cover inside edges taped, text browning especially at the edges, a poor-fair but intact copy. Back cover advertisement is from Terminal Products Co, showing a unit you attach to a cold water tap, plug in, and it will dispense hot water. One of the illustrations shows this electrical unit plugged in over the bathtub! The company name is perhaps appropriate.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Poor to Fair. There were only 3 issues of the Dr. Death pulp magazine, published in 1935. The first 3 books of this offering reprint the lead novels from the 3 magazines, while the 4th book reprints the various short stories which were also included in the magazines. Comments on each book follow (my highest rating is near fine, as no used book is perfect). # 1 has a faint reading crease, a tiny corner crease, a trace of edgewear, and is VG+ to near fine. # 2 has only modest marks and is near fine. # 3 has a faint reading crease and is near fine. The scarce # 4 has a reading crease, edgewear, a little browning to the page edges, a price stamp to the top pages edge, and is VG to VG+.
