Boston: L. C. Page and Co. , 1908. First Edition. Author's first book and most famous work. This copy in a very early issue of the dustjacket with advertisements for titles published by Page no later than 1909 at the rear panel. Differs from the Cameron Treleaven copy in the titles listed at rear panel. A sharp Very Good plus copy (expertly and unnoticeably recased) with few pages showing paper acidity browning, few pages with a dime sized brown stain, few smudges to pages. Dustjacket has some browning scotch tape at verso, light staining to spine, shallow chipping to spine ends and panels.

London: W. Heather, 1802. First Edition. Contemporary full leather binding, red leather spine label, oblong, (6 1/2 inches tall, 8 inches long, almost 3 inches wide) 224 charts. Title continues: Including Those in the Gulf of Venice, Archipelago, Sea of Marmora, and the Levant, Drawn from the French & Italian Surveys of Michelot, Bremond, & Ayrouard ; and from Those of Mess. John Wilson and Joseph Foss Dessiou, Masters in the Royal Navy. Extremely rare complete copy of this title. WorldCat locates one copy at The British Library. Fabulous bookplate for 'Rich Barry Mathematical and Optical Instrument Maker' at front pastedown. William Heather was among the most prominent cartographers of the period. He succeeded Mount and Page in 1765 and then established a Naval Academy and the Naval Warehouse, which provided nautical instruments, charts and instructional texts on navigation. New York: D. Appleton and Co., 1895. First Edition, First Issue with correct issue points and ads. Octavo, original cloth and decorative dustjacket. Considered a classic of Civil War literature, exceptionally scarce in dustjacket. Very Good, cloth with general darkening and sporadic surface erosion to cloth which is common for this title, contemporary gift inscription (from a Pennsylvania man to his Tennessee friend) in Very Good original 19th Century dustjacket, with some chipping at top spine end, expected wear and soiling, light stain at top rear panel.

New York: Thomas Y. Crowell, [1886]. First American Edition with a portrait frontispiece of the author, and the one page advertisement at the rear withCrime and Punishment listed first and priced at $1.50. Octavo, in the scarce blue cloth binding stamped in maroon and gilt on the front cover, and gilt lettered spine. Very Good with light shelf wear.

New York: The Vanguard Press, 1937. First Edition, first issue with the boy in white shorts on the dust jacket and front cover. Quarto, illustrated boards.Very Good with light shelf wear in Very Good dustjacket with a few chips and edge wear (see photographs).

New York : Century Co., 1897 . First American Edition. Original green illustrated cloth and publisher's dustjacket. Although the English edition is occasionally found in dust jacket, the American edition is much less common. Not in Tanselle (for the English dust jacket see Tanselle 97.91) Very good with light shelf wear in nearly Very good dustjacket, with chips at top and bottom of spine, and a few tears along the spine and front flap.

First Edition, first printing (and first issue dustjacket). Octavo, black cloth with white lettering. The third Queen mystery and the most desirable title. Very Good or Near Fine, bit of shelf wear and signs of use, in Good dustjacket, chipped at top spine end, split along front spine edge (now mended with archival tape) and lacking lower 2 1/2 inches of spine material.

New York: MacMillan Co., 1903. First Edition, in dustjacket with variant lettering at base of spine. Decorations by Charles Edward Hooper and illustrated by Phillip Goodwin and Charles Livingston Bull. London's classic north country adventure novel. Uncommon in dustjacket. Near Fine, mild wear at spine ends and cover corners, contemporary date in ink at verso of frontis, in attractive Very Good dustjacket, split at front spine edge but rather seamlessly mended at verso with archival tape, nick at top front panel.

[Staten Island]: E. T. Clegg, 1901. 14 " x 11 " Leather over hard boards, embossed with gilt lettering. All edges gilt. 10 leaves; 20 albumen print photographs mounted recto and verso, on heavy board. All prints measure 7 3/8 by 9 3/8 inches. The front flyleaf credits the photographer: Mr. E. T. Clegg. Twenty photographs feature the architecture, buildings, and grounds of the historic Sailor's Snug Harbor taken in 1901. The photographer, Edward T. Clegg, became a resident of the Sailor's Snug Harbor in April 1891 at the age of 65, and lived there until his death in November of 1910. Clegg was born in England and went to sea at the age of 18, serving on a British Man of War (1854-1857). In his early 20's, he became a seaman on an American whaling ship (1858-1864); Clegg spent his middle years in Michigan, fishing and sailing on the Great Lakes before moving to the northeast, and eventually settling in his retirement in the Sailor's Snug Harbor. Two volumes, tall octavo, rebound utilizing original cloth over boards covers, new leather spine with gilt lettering and raised bands. Very scarce first American printing of Austen's collected novels printed in double columns. Very Good set, title page of volume one is in partial facsimile (about 1/3rd original), some expected foxing and margin stains.

Large folio scrapbook; 22 1/2 X 14 1/2 inches; Leather covered heavy boards; Heavy paper leaves held by brackets; 100+ folio pages containing notes, clippings, show programs, cards, notes and other ephemera glued or taped on leaves; almost all items are meticulously notated with dates and other commentary. Scrapbook of Mark Freeman Gillette (1929-2013), son of Senator Guy M. Gillette (D-Iowa) who served in the U.S. Congress (1932-1936) and in the U.S. Senate (1936-1944 and 1949-1955) for a combined 18 years. His son, Mark F. Gillette (keeper of the scrapbook) and his mother accompanied the Senator to Washington D.C., residing there for much of Mark's childhood. The scrapbook is compiled by the young Gillette and spans the years when his father served as Senator from Iowa. The front flyleaf of this large folio scrapbook is festooned with scribbled writings and "dedications" by the teenage Gillette (1944) and conveys a hopeful and patriotic outlook. First Edition. Small quarto, original boards, white lettering and illustration pastedown, with original thin paper illustrated dustjacket. Illustrated by R. K. Culver. An extremely scarce example of a Roosevelt Bears title to be found with its original oversized dustjacket. Near Fine but for several of the black and white illustrations water-colored in by a previous owner, all Culver color plates accounted for, white lettering at front cover bright (little less so at spine), in Very Good dustjacket, some edge chips and a couple closed tears at top front panel (both few inches in length). 

Dayton, Ohio: United Brethren Publishing House, 1878. First Edition. Octavo, original blue cloth lettered in gilt and with black border lines. Compiled by the ladies of the St. Francis Street Methodist Episcopal Church, South, Mobile, Alabam. Very scarce, important early cookbook with the first appearance of recipe for Jambalaya (here called Jam Bolaya). Much Creole cuisine, preceding the New Orleans Creole cookery books. Spine ends chipped, front corners bumped, front hinge starting. Very Good overall.

Philadelphia: Mathew Carey, 1787. First Edition. Volume Two of The American Museum, over 600 pages, octavo, rebound in full leather, new endpapers, red leather spine label and gilt print. Includes very early printings of the Constitution and first six letters of the Federalist Papers. Very Good, some issue title pages and several other pages with loss to fore-edge margins archivally mended or strengthened, few pages with old agricultural college blindstamp.

Boston: James Munroe and Company, 1841. First Edition, binding state D (no priority). Original brown ribbed cloth, gilt lettering at spine. On Grolier list of one hundred most influential books, includes his most famous essay, Self-Reliance. Author George Van Santvoord's copy with his bookplate and 1842 ownership signature at front endpaper. Van Santvoord wrote law books including 'Sketches of the Lives and Judical Services of the Chief Justices of the Supreme Court (1856). A Good copy, foxing to endpapers, spine end cloth chipped with some loss along spine edges and book corners, modest wave to pages at fore-edge.

London: Cassell and Company Ltd, (1931). First Edition. T. H. White's extremely scarce first book. 'How Adrian Nycher murdered his landlady and under the name of Nixon became a vagabond'. Very Good or better attractive copy (but for two large lending library stamps at front pastedown), in Good dustjacket, less than an inch chip at top spine end, soiling to spine, vertical creases at front panel, some shallow loss at lower spine end and lower front panel.

New York: Carleton, Publisher, 1862. First American Editions. Tall octavo, original purple cloth, blind stamped and gilt lettered at spines. Victor Hugo's classic five-part novel (Fantine, Cosette, Marius, Saint Denis, Jean Valjean). Very Good, some foxing and age toning to pages, some fading to covers to brown from purple.

New York: George P. Putnam & Co., , 1854. First Edition, first issue. Beautifully illustrated with 20 chromolithograph plates, 15 of birds by Mrs. Webber, and 5 of Native American scenes by the great early Western artists, Alfred Jacob Miller. Miller's works are very scarce in chromolithograph format. The plate of Indian Girl Swinging shows her bare-breasted as called for in the first issue (in later printings she has been provided a blouse). Large octavo (binding is approximately 7 inches wide and 10 inches tall). In the scarce publisher's full black Morocco, highly decorated in gilt on both the front and back covers and the spine. Both covers have a large depressed lozenge with a gilt bird in the center. Very scarce in the deluxe Morocco binding. Near fine with light edge wear.

New York: William S. Gottsberger, 1886. 1886 and 1887. Complete in 6 volumes. Four of the volumes (3 through 6) are first printings with the date of 1886 on title page, and "Press of William S. Gottsberger" at the bottom of the copyright page. Two volumes (1 and 2) are dated 1887 on the title page, and there is no Gottsberger imprint on the copyright page. 12 mo, original brown publisher's cloth stamped in black and gilt. Overall Very Good condition, with light to moderate shelf wear and evidence of damp stain to front cover of volume 5.

First Edition and First Photoplay Edition, illustrated with scenes from the Radio Picture at front and rear endpapers. This copy with the second issue dustjacket, with correction of removing 'by' next to Edgar Wallace's name at front panel. Very Good, with some oxidation or discoloration to green cloth at front and rear covers, foxed at top edge of cloth, in Good dustjacket, clear tape unfortunately applied to top and bottom edges (as well as front flap edge), faded at spine.
