Paris, 1808. Autograph, Letter signed " Jospehine" and addressed to " MON COUSIN LE CARDINAL ERSKINE". 1 page in French , signed and dated in Paris, January 10, 1808. Translated: TO MY COUSIN CARDINAL ERSKINE Dear cousin, nothing could make me happier than once again receiving proof of your feelings for me at the occasion of the New Year. [4] p., [20] p. of color photography plates, measuring 30 x 30 cm bound in tan paper boards with large black block lettering. By repeatedly re-photographing her images, transferring them from video to film and back again, and manipulating them digitally, Michal Rovner creates photographic and video imagery that abstract familiar subjects like houses, animals, and people into ambiguous and iconic forms. Michal Rovner was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1955. She presently lives and works in New York and Tel Aviv. Rovner’s blurry large-scale images of people and birds in some unidentified space transform the concept of border, and force us to rethink our relationship with boundaries as a particular geographic sign system. Statement on the colophon:"Der Carnaval von Robert Schumann mit 15 Radierungen von Ernst Oppler und einem Nachwort von Oscar Bie erschien in einer einmaligen Auflage von 420 Exemplaren. ( Present copy is number #46). Nr. 21 -120 wurden auf handgeschoepftem Zandersbuetten abgezogen und tragen die Unterschrift des Kuenstlers unter jeder Radierung. Den Notendruck besorgte die Berliner Musikalien-Druckerei, den Kupferdruck Georg schneider, den Buchdruck die Reichsdruckerei in Berlin. Der Satz des Nachwortes und des Druckvermerkes wurde in einer eigens hierzu neugegossenen Ronde des 18. Jahrhunderts hergestellt. Erschienen im Herbst 1924 in Berlin." Rebound in contemporary paperboards with white spine paper and hand-written spine label. Internally crisp and clean with only very minimal foxing and browning. First bilingual edition, also published in the same year in English only. Dufresny dedicates the book to his pupil John Merrill, junior, to whom he was teaching French. Included in the book are 179 jests and sayings, with the English version on the left hand side and the French translation opposite. Attractive red and black title page. The album measures 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches and is 2 1/2 inches thick. All edges red. A stunning collection of 31 posed studio portraits of ladies of the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy. The photographs measure 7 x 4 inches and are mounted on 8x 4 inch photostudio cards. Most of the photos were taken by Photographisches Atelier Viktor Angerer, Wien , Theresianumstrasse 4 some other ones originate from Josef Borsos (Kirudvari Pesten), Ellinger Edition Photoanstalt Pest ( Hungary) as well as Walery (Nice). 1948. This is a mint copy of a 1948 Old Gold Cigarettes Jackie Robinson card with a black and white picture of Jackie Robinson on the front including his mimeographed signature underneath the following statement: "For a treat instead of a treatment......I recommend Old Gold cigarettes. Jackie Robinson". On the rear of the card is a 4 paragraph bio stating that his was signed to the Dogers early in 1947. The card is listed on page 292 in the 2004 SCD. There are actually 2 different poses of Robinson known, the more common "dugout" pose ( which this card is) and a very rare "jumping" pose with a different bio on back. The card is in excellent condition, no creases, tears or scribbles with a bright and vibrant tone to the photograph. Image available upon request..

The author and artist, Nina Simonovich-Efimova ( 1877 - 1948) was a Russian painter and puppet-theater designer. She was among the first group of professional women painters in Russia along with Elena Polenova, Mariya Yakunchikova and was alos a member of the Abramtsevsky circle. Next to Nataliya Goncharova, Lyubov Popova, Olga Rozanova and Alexandra Ekster she was among the "Amazons of Avang-Guard" fighting for artistic equality.
