More recent 20th Century brown leather spine and corners in very good plus condition. Inside the title page and next four pages are covered in a preservative coating, as are the last 4 pages, an appendix. Pages xvii, 76, 136, 181, 9. The text takes the form of letters to his son. Campbell, who formerly commanded a regiment of cavalry in the Service of the Nabob of the Carnatic (in India). His travels took him through Germany to Venice in part one; Alexandria, Aleppo to Mosul in part two, then to Baghdad, Basra, Bombay, shipwreck and capture by Hyder Ali, Candapore, Travanare, Madras and Bengal. .
