Hahn Jr. , USCG, "a fine officer and an outstanding gentleman, " thanks Captain Hahn for his cooperation on the telecast of "Operation Rescue, " saying his "patience and assistance helped to make it the outstanding success it was. " The inscription is dated April 1949. The book looks at the career of W. S. Van Dyke ("Woody") , who got his start with "Birth of a Nation" and later directed the Thin Man movies, "Marie Antoinette, " and "Naughty Marietta, " among many others during the 1930s and '40s. Inscribed & signed by MGM journeyman director Bob Cannon with a warm inscription to the director Ted Post, and with Post's bookplate on the front pastedown. A scarce Hollywood memoir. Among the inscription recipient Ted Post's (1918-2013) numerous directorial credits are Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Magnum Force starring Clint Eastwood, Gunsmoke, Perry Mason and the Twilight Zone.
