With the dust-jacket showing a still from the film of the same name starring Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton (1957), not priced. Heavily browned to low-quality paper. Some wear to extremities, with the jacket showing browning to spine, as well as moderate rubbing and chipping to edges. Very good.

London: The Crime Club, Collins, 1951. [Modern Literature] VINTAGE HARDCOVER REPRINT. Octavo (19 x 12cm), pp.256. Publisher's blue cloth lettered in gilt to spine, illustrated dust-jacket with printed price of 2/- to front cover and spine. Toning to edges of textblock and pages, rubbing to gilt, bumping to spine and edges, tape applied to tearing at crown and base of spine as well as flaps, spotting visible to reverse of jacket to spine, chipping to edges. Very good. The last twelve cases to be taken on by Hercule Poirot before his planned retirement, with an ingenious link to the ancient world and the Belgian detective's heroic namesake. These stories were first published in a single volume in 1947, and this later, vintage edition was published in 1951.

A Miss Marple crime mystery first published as '4.50 from Paddington' in the UK (1957).

A crisp, clean copy internally, with a little toning and a few marks to edges. Jacket shows wear to edges, and a loss to lower right corner of the front panel. Very good. The final original novel to be published during the author's lifetime, 'Postern of Fate' finds series favourites Tommy and Tuppence Beresford back in action.
