Worn but attractive copy with rubbing and scuffing to the extremities, chipping to spine head of first volume, spine labels absent, spines darkened, hinges internally cracked but covers secure, one gathering of pages in volume I loosened but not detached, pages age-toned but clean with occasional foxing, no names or other markings.. Hard Cover. Fair. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

With the half-title. 8vo: (iii)-xvi,[2,errata],624pp, with the engraved title page ("Dealings with the firm of Dombey and Son, wholesale, retail and for exportation") and 39 etched plates (with none of the inferior lithographed plates made as substitutes, after the etched plates were insufficient to meet demand) by Hablot K. Browne ("Phiz"), including a "dark plate" and four other horizontal plates (both innovations). Original diaper-grain green cloth, skillfully rebacked with spine laid down, pale yellow end papers, engraved title (dated 1848) preceding printed title.
