A RARE first edition, first printing. There is a name and number written neatly on the front pastedown endpaper. The number has bled to the opposite endpaper. There is also some pencil markings in the margins of a small portion of the text. The pages are quite brown, and the lower textblock edge has some light soiling. The rear pastedown endpaper has a small (1.25" by 1") sticker from Kaufmann's Book Shop. Spine is a bit loose with age, and the binding shows through in the gutters throughout, though the book still has a very solid feel to it. Corners are square, and the red boards are flat and true but do show some moderate but fairly even soiling that has led to a slight overall dulling effect to the color and gold gilt lettering, especially along the spine.
