Sixty-four engraved plates plus frontispiece with an additional four pages at rear: "The New Lien Law of Massachusetts, In Favor of Mechanics, Passed in 1851, with all the Amendments in full to 1853." Shaw, an author of several pattern books presents here a number of house designs (Grecian and a few Gothic, and one Italian villa). His designs were popular in rural New England.
