The Naturalist's Library, Mammalia Vol. V. 12mo in a 19th century binding of 3/4 red leather over marbled paper; raised bands with gilt spine titles; marbled endsheets; engraved frontis portrait of Sloane, with tissue guard; half title with steel engraving; 248pp with 30 plates collated. Most of the plates are hand-tinted. Just a Good copy: leather moderately rubbed, corners rubbed through, spine titles barely legible, a couple of scuffs to the boards, p.o. bookplate, binding tight, interior clean, plates undamaged.

It is tight and clean and the lively hand-colored plates are sharp and bright.. Illustrated by Thirty-two plates, with Memoir and portrait of Sir Hans Sloane. An engraved title page and two accompanying title pages.. This, the fifth volume in the original set, is bound with explanatory text accompanying each plate. Some other volumes of this early edition have all plates bound in the back. Later sets changed the numbering of the volumes. The first 92 pp. are devoted to the naturalist, Sir Hans Sloane.
