Descripción:
London: The Olympia Press, 1971. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good. A lightning bolt of feminist rage and a sophisticated riposte to the intellectual and social misogyny of the 1960s, here in its first UK edition. Somewhat more uncommon than the 1968 American first, whose Paul Krassner commentary is here replaced with a lengthy introduction by Vivian Gornick (a change that first appeared in the American second edition of 1970, also by Olympia). London: The Olympia Press, 1971. Preface by publisher Maurice Girodias. Introduction by Vivian Gornick. Perfect-bound in printed wraps, 7-1/8 x 4-3/4 in. xxxvi, 52pp. Hinges and corners moderately worn, with some loss of color/surface material. Spot of rubbing to rear panel. Minor twist to base of spine. Binding remains secure. No fading to red portions of wraps. Good to very good.

Descripción:
[New York]: The Olympia Press, Inc, 1970. Second printing, 12mo, pp. xxxvi, 52, [8] ads; original pictorial wrappers; near fine. From the library of Allan Kornblum, poet, fine press printer, and publisher who founded Coffee House Press. "A radical feminist manifesto by Valerie Solanas, published in 1967. It argues that men have ruined the world, and that it is up to women to fix it. To achieve this goal, it suggests the formation of SCUM, an organization dedicated to overthrowing society and eliminating the male sex ... The SCUM Manifesto was little-known until Solanas attempted to murder Andy Warhol in 1968" (Wikipedia).

Descripción:
First Edition, first book printing of this 1968 scarcity by one of the godmothers of what would become the early feminist movement, mainstreaming into "Women's Lib" in the 1970's. SOLANAS, Valerie's S.C.U.M. Manifesto. [Society for Cutting Up Men.] Bound in publisher's original printed wraps. Near Fine with light foxing and light wear to wraps, light sunning to spine and pages toned. A very desirable copy of this radical feminist manifesto whose author became famous when she non-fatally shot Pop artist Andy Warhol in 1968. Fascinating document, openly admitting that the movement was not about freedom to pursue opportunity but to "OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT, ELIMINATE THE MONEY SYSTEM, INSTITUTE COMPLETE AUTOMATION AND DESTROY THE MALE SEX" (Page 1). Book #v5a119. $980. We specialize in Rare Ayn Rand, history, and science.

New York: Olympia Press, 1968. Softcover. Near Fine. First commercial edition (originally issued by the author as a mimeographed that she distributed in the streets of New York). Paperback original. Commentary by Paul Krassner. Pages a little browned, but a nice and fresh, very near fine copy. A provocative manifesto for the radical elements of the feminist movement. Solanas is probably best known as the woman who shot Andy Warhol; she was portrayed in the film *I Shot Andy Warhol* by Lili Taylor. A nicer than usual copy.

New York: Olympia Press, 1968. First edition. Softcover. Good. Rare. First trade edition (there was a virtually impossible to find mimeographed self-printing). Illustrated softcovers featuring a portrait of Solanas on the front cover and the June 4, 1968 New York Post cover "Andy Warhol Fights For Life". 105 pp. plus six pages publisher's ads at rear. Front cover as some modest creasing while the rear cover has heavier ceasing. The text block has the ususal embrowning. Valerie Solanas, who had acted in one of his underground films ("I, A Man") shot Andy Warhol in his studio on June 3, 1968 (he was seriously injured but survived). The previous year, Solanus had written a radical separatist feminist "manifesto" that advocated the elimination of all men. After the attack she was arrested and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and served three years including a stay in a psychiatric hospital. Maurice Girodias of Olympia Press, having signed a contract with the author the year previously,…

Near fine copy of this classic from the recent past. Though mass market paperback, the pages are tight and binding very good. Has the back photo of New York Post article on Andy Warhol's shooting by Valerie Solanas. With this copy is also a New York Times article, appearing 25 years after Warhol's death (from gall bladder surgery), about Solanas's marking up copies of her book at the New York Public Library.
