Cream pictorial sewn wrappers printed in black and green, designed by John Blanchard. First edition, issued as Hogarth Letters No. 8. Some soiling along edges, an effusive gift inscription in ink on the front free endpaper, but a good copy.   This epistolary essay was first published in "The Yale Review," and thereafter as a separate title in the Hogarth Press "Letters" series. Woolf was indeed addressing a particular young poet: John Lehmann, who was working as an apprentice at the Press founded by Leonard and Virginia Woolf in 1917. Half titles and full title pages with Hogarth imprints supplied for each pamphlet, and the book seems bound up from original sheets; all appear to be first printings except for Mortimer.
