Moscow: Mosfilm, 1964. Two vintage photographs from the four-fim series, released between 1966 and 1967, showing director Sergey Bondarchuk on a large outdoor battle set. With Italian mimeo snipes, and stamps of a magazine archive dated August 19, 1964 on the verso. An epic production, based on Leo Tolstoy's 1869 novel, at the time the most expensive film ever made in the Soviet Union. Filmed over six years, with the photographs offered here from the midpoint of the production, and released in four parts in 1966 and 1967, running a totla of just over seven hours. Vintage reference photograph of Truman Capote with child actor Michael Kearney, who played Buddy, based on the young Capote, on the set of the 1968 television film. "The Thanksgiving Visitor" aired Thanksgiving night, November 28, 1968, on ABC. Mimeo snipe and "NOV 25 1968" stamp on verso. Based on Capote's 1967 autobiographical short story, based on his childhood in Alabama, published in the November 1967 issue of McCall's magazine (later published by Random House in 1968). A sequel to Capote's 1956 autobiographical short story "A Christmas Memory," which was also the basis for an ABC television movie, also directed by Frank Perry, written by Truman Capote and Eleanor Perry, and starring Geraldine Page, which aired on December 21, 1966. As with "Scenes from a Marriage," the film originally aired in Sweden as a television miniseries (181 minutes), then was pared down to various lengths as a film version in the US (114 minutes), Argentina (120 minutes), and the UK (136 minutes).
