Publisher's gray cloth over boards with a full color illustrated pastedown on front cover and spine stamped in black. This copy is clean and bright and shows very little wear. The ownership box is filled in and the hinges have just a hint of looseness. The very top front tips of the text are either bent or show a tiny loss of paper on some of the pages. No soiling to covers and page edges are still white. Later printing with 32 page gatherings and unhyphenated title on spine. Illustrated endpages.

Chicago: Reilly & Lee, 1941 Nice copy in gray cloth with pictorial pastedown, illustrations in black and white. Scalawagons on spine not hyphenated. Spine lightly faded with a few tiny spots on it, but a much better than usual copy, the ownership name isn't even filled in!

But, the endpapers are blank. Faint stain at bottom of text block. Otherwise book is in fine condition.. With black and white illustrations by John R. Neill and a beautiful full color pictorial cover plate..
