Signed by Reviere and Sons, stamped to verso of ffep. Good only with front board detached and wear and rubbing to edges of boards and some surface abrasions to rear board. Bookplate of Robert Downs of Denmark Hill attached to front pastedown.

From the synopsis: "The principal part of the present contributions to the study of Babylonian lunar theory is a reconstruction of a scheme for computing the length of time intervals consisting of six consecutive synodic months." Part of the Royal Danish Academy's Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry... series, number 40:6.  Uncommon.

Interesting issue of this newsletter with a lengthy, passionate letter from Larry McMurtry on the topic of piracy, as was being debated by members of the ABAA in relation to its code of ethics at the time. Very good with some light curling at corners else clean.

Signed 1963 printing of this classic from Chinua Achebe which was published as the first book in the African Writers Series by Heinemann in 1962.  Achebe was the editorial advisor for the series.  Wonderful illustrations throughout by Carabine, and scarcely found signed.  .

Some toning to wraps, light vertical crease throughout, small chip and some smudging to rear wrapper. Very good or better. Nicely preserved and scarce Wyoming promotional, issued as part of the Agricultural Series (No. 10) by the U.S. Railroad Administration.  Copiously illustrated with photos of the state's scenery and agricultural industries from livestock to farmland.  We date this publication by the governor's message at the front, written by Robert D. Carey who took office in 1918 and served until 1922.   OCLC cites only a copy at the Newberry Library in Chicago.

First edition. 11x7" 16pp. Printed in several pastel colors, with illustrations, two pages of mounted samples, and 4 brad-bound sample palettes, each roughly 20 pages, 4x2" and with technical info on versos, laid in mounted pockets as issued. Spiral bound in printed card wrappers with samples mounted to front cover, under glassine protector. Some waviness to pages, hints of smudging and wear. Near fine. A beautiful piece of mid-century advertising from the American-Marietta Corporation of Chicago.  The book is written as a manual for architects showing how the company's paints, complete with technical information, are best used in different lighting environments.  American-Marietta was active from 1940-1961.   OCLC cites 7 holdings for this booklet.

Florence, MA: Prophylactic Brush Co, 1932. Complete jig saw puzzle in envelope, printed on both sides in two colors, 10.5x14." Puzzle bright, clean, and with minimal wear, envelope with some folds and staining. Charming advertisement for Pro-phy-lac-tic tooth brushes in the form of a jig saw puzzle given out as a free premium with purchase of the tufted model.  The envelope shows 5 sizes of the brush, which at the time was the company's most popular product.  The other side shows the image by Saturday Evening Post illustrator, Frances Tipton Hunter (1896-1957), with detailed instructions on how to complete the puzzle.  A wonderful and uncommon piece of Massachusetts advertising history.  .

Uncommon, interoffice newsletter for the historic Underwood Typewriter Company in New York. Headshots of all the best salesmen from the Spring Sales Contest, with "67 Sales-batsmen making 100% or more of their sales-hit quotas." The stats and branch locations are displayed in a table, with a wonderful, period baseball graphic printed in green separating the table from the photos.

Philadelphia: National Council on Asian Affairs, 1957. First edition. 4to, 55pp. Photographs, illustrations. Cream stock wrappers show wear and soiling with bumped head of spine. Internally clean with some toning to paper and a tear to bottom half of pg 17/18. Very good. Quotations from Gandhi accompanied by illustrations and photographs, nicely printed and produced.  .

New York: CIO Political Action Committee, 1944. First edition. 20x14cm, [30]pp including printed, inner wrappers. Photographs throughout, map on rear cover. Staple bound with some wear to wraps, mainly at corners. Internally clean and very good. Uncommon pamphlet from the newly formed (1943) Congress of Industrial Organizations Political Action Committee.  This promotional publication of sorts was intended to elicit support from the public and other unionists (a tactic unique to the CIO-PAC at the time) to end discrimination within unions.   The second president of the organization and steelworkers unionist, Philip Murray, helped found the CIO-PAC in response to the Smith-Connally Act, which prevented strikes in industries during wartime production.  The group supported FDR, who is featured in the pamphlet, and who vetoed the Smith-Connally Act.  The CIP-PAC, besides advocating against discrimination, also helped register black voters in the South and worked towards eliminating poll taxes.   .

Blue cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt in illustrated jacket. Nearly fine. Signed copy of Dr. Robert L. Prince's (1930-2019) history of the contributions of African Americans to the history of Dallas.  Prince spent 30 years researching the work which he published as an antithesis to the standard histories he read as a student in the 30s and 40s, and which did not include any information on the role of the African slave in the development of the city.  Prince began his OB-GYN practice in 1964 and was a staunch advocate for women's reproductive rights, serving on the board of Planned Parenthood.  He was the first African American appointed to a Dallas County Board.   .

[Bellingham, WA]: N.p., 1927. Broadsheet advertisement, 18x13cm, [2]pp. Printed in two colors with a photograph of the group on front. Horizontal crease down the middle, few small edge tears, couple spots to rear else nicely preserved. Printed advertisement for this traveling quartet managed by an Arthur D. Lawrence in Los Angeles.  The concert, given by the "4 Guaranteed Grouch Removers, Kings of Harmony," took place at the Garden Street Methodist Church in Bellingham, WA on March 11, 1927.  The Bellingham Herald the following week stated the group "...gave an interesting program of musical and comic numbers... The Piano numbers by S. R. Stewart were especially pleasing to the local audience." We find little mention of this particular troupe, and similarly, little material documenting their performances.  .
