From the last page: "A political settlement was reached over the future of the Kurds and so the RAF's contribution to Operation Provide Comfort finished on 1 May 1991, and crews returned to the UK. The final Hercules departed from the gulf at the end of Operation Granby on 16 June 1991."

The usual "postcards" and "odd illustrations". 1st Edition of the third title in this series (more came later). Nick Bantock's signature only on title page. Interesting dust-jacket as usual. Minor stain at bottom of d.j. spine inside, not evident on the outside of spine.

Another beautiful edition featuring Cicely Mary Barker's wonderful group of Flower Fairies.

No date, but a gift inscription sticker on f.e.p. for Molly from her Auntie, Xmas 1938. 72 colour plates for the Spring, Summer and Fall flower fairies books. Green topedges with about 30 pp. that have some bleeding about 1/4" into the tops of the pages, very minor. Corners slightly bumped. A wonderful copy.
Accompanying the book is a damaged copy of the original d.j. It is in two pieces and is missing the lower half of the spine and a chunk out of the rear part of the d.j. One of Ms. Barker's flower fairy illustrations is on the front of the d.j and it is different from the other 72 illus. in that there are three flower fairies hiding behind some flowers.

Fairies, Fairies, Fairies all over the place, and who does them better than Cicely Mary Barker. A later printing but still a wonderful book to have, especially in this condition without flaws. Lots of little envelopes and little books to open.

Poems and pictures by Cicely Mary Barker. The enlarged format of the watercolour illustrations are reproduced from the recently reoriginated printing plates so that their delicacy and detail can be seen to the finest advantage and Cicely's skilled craftsmanship as an artist can be fully appreciated." Previous owner's name and "1993" on front endpaper (very neatly done).

This copy, complete with slipcase to protect the book was given out by the Premiere at a special Presentation Ceremony on March 2nd, 2009 at Government House in Victoria. The front endpapers are SIGNED by Premier Gordon Campbell and Minister of Education Shirley Bond. The 8-page awards pamphlet is in the book and has the list of 20 recipients receiving the award for that year, teachers working within the public, independent and band school systems.

INSCRIBED to Cyndy by both authors. Another outstanding collection of wonderful paintings to accompany Base's thoughtful story about aspiration, acceptance and friendship, and what it takes to be a leader.

Busy, wonderfully-detailed pages full of many different animals, mostly in fancy dress. The seven-page Top Secret explanation has been opened (who could resist?) and you may be surprised with what happened to the food.
Author/artist Graeme Base has by now published two dozen or more equally interesting and incredible books that can be enjoyed by all ages.
