New York: Morrow, 1972 Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Same date, 1972. NF/VG, Green boards, silver titles to spine. Appears never opened or read, tight and clean other that PO's signature at top of first flyleaf. DJ has a few chips to edges. DJ has price of $8.95. The intimate personal story behind the pioneering achievements of the world's most famous anthropologist. Frankly and eloquently Dr. Mead relates here the events of her life up to World War ll and the effects each of her remarkable experiences has had on her as a woman. .

Doubleday 1951, VG+/ Believed to be Hemmerling's copy, as the signature is across 2 pages. Hemmerling was a notable Louisianna Folk Artist who inscribed " A good woman is a crown to her husband and the joy of her children an she will fat their bones and be their delight". And also, "More things are wrought by prayer than dreamed". Gray boards in VG ++ condition with a small dent mid spine and normal bumping to corners from shelf wear. Hemmerling's signature inside front cover (in pen) as well as back of first page (in pencil) Black & white phots adorn the inside of cover depicting scenes from her performances. There is also a 25 cent mark in red on on of the photos. The dj is in good +condition. It shows considerable wear and bumping and few tears along spine and corners. Remarkable photos on front and back. Great DJ! Autobiography documenting encounters with other black vaudeville greats including Jim Crow. A powerful personal testament!

Harcourt & Brace 1943, First. VG/none. Rust orange boards with black titles to spine and illustration of young man on bike with dog chasing (delivering telegrams) . Also an illustration of a young boy on the spine. PO's signature on first fly leaf. Otherwise, a clean tight copy - no other marks. No DJ. The Human Comedya loving novel about a family during WWII. It was made into a movie starring Mickey Rooney , Fay Bainter and Frank Morgan. The book won a Pulitzer Prize, and the movie won an Academy Award for Best Picture. Rooney received an Oscar Nomination for Best Actor.

Harper & Bros, 1945 War Edition. NF/Good- Scarce, hard to find copy. Hard boards are in excellent, like new condition! Tight clean copy, no marks. Light brown boards illustrated with orange and black. Thurber and his wife on bunny rabbit carousel ride. Even spine is in excellent condition. Bright colors. DJ is present, but not in tack. It's in 4 pieces with considerable edge wear. It has the exact illustration as the hard boards.Back of DJ titled "The Critics say of James Thurber, and begins "I regard Thurber as Ohio's gift to the oppressed and downtrodden of all nations and I am just going to continue to be glad that he is around, and the moral of that is: 'Always look a gift horse in the face, especially if Thurber threw it." - Frank Sullivan....
