London, Virago, 1984. Uncorrected Proof Copy issued in advance of the first edition. Paperback, bit grubby and faded, and light stains, plus a cryptic note written to the title page, otherwise fine. A collectable copy of her second novel.

London, Viking, 1993. Uncorrected Proof Copy issued in advance of the first edition. Paperback, looks read, which is unusual for a proof, with some edgewear and a bit grubby, not helped by being predominately white. The second book of her acclaimed Regeneration trilogy.

London, Profile, 2004. Uncorrected Proof Copy, in advance of the first edition. Paperback. Looks unread, tight and clean with only minimal edgewear.

Looks unread, but quite a lot of creasing to the cover, front and back, and dust markings to the top of the book. Limited edition, this being number 424 of 600. Lanchester's debut, and a cafe gourmand of a treat, Tuck in.

London, Macmillan, 1968. Uncorrected Proof Copy in advance of the first edition. Softcover. Looks unread, sadly. A nice copy, tight and clean, but very much faded. There must still be Sillitoe collectors out there, at least I hope there are. Personally, his great novels will be some of the last I sell from my own collection. Great book by a great writer. Even putting it up here, I lost half an hour being sucked down into it, again. No idea why he isn't more collectible. Bargain.

Can't help but feel the rather brilliant title came first, which is a shame as personally I'd have preferred it to be about a Fulham fan from Tooting, us Londoners being surprisingly tribal...
