Descripción:
1892. Years before the first shot was fired at Fort Sumner, Ohio was playing a leading role in the drama that in retrospect seems to have been inevitable. Ohio historian Henry Howe, traveled the state before and after the war, in 1846 and again in 1886, and from his vivid first-hand accounts we have gleaned tales of fugitive slaves, underground railroads, race riots and abolitionists, in and out of public office. To this we have added some first hand accounts of Ohio's Underground Railroad from Levi Coffin. We've compiled the information in this NEW spiral-bound 71-page booklet, comprised of excerpts from: Howe's Historical Collections of Ohio (1896 edition) and Reminiscences of Levi Coffin, published in 1899. The booklet is printed on 8.5" x 11" 60# paper. The front cover is protected by a vinyl sheet. Pro- and Anti-slavery sentiments were expressed in many quarters long before the Revolutionary War, but the pot really began to boil during the three decades before the fall of… Leer más

1883. A New 48 Page Booklet on the 13th Regiment of Michigan Volunteers. We have printed the spiral-bound booklet one-sided on 8 1/2 x 11" 60# bond paper, with the front cover protected by a vinyl sheet. The original narrative had no pictures, but we have added background information and pictures of Col. Shoemaker and Gen. Don Carlos Buell, and a few sketches from other vintage Civil War writings. The booklet is reprinted from an article that first appeared in the 1883 Report of the Pioneer Society of the State of Michigan. An excerpt from an old book on Michigan in the Civil War, giving a history of the regiment and the names of officers, has also been added. From the original article: "Compiler's Note -- In this article from the ready pen of Col. Shoemaker, we have a record not only of much personal interest, but an addition of great value to the history of the war. He takes us "behind the scenes," and shows how correct were our criticisms at the time, of the dilatory commanders whom we accused of… Leer más
