Mount has minor chipping and moderate soiling; photograph has moderate soiling. Overall good. A great image of late 19th century Las Vegas, New Mexico. Las Vegas was an old settlement, established in 1835 with a Mexican land grant. The town started to grow after the establishment of the Santa Fe Trail and when the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway arrived in 1879, Las Vegas was the largest city between Independence, Missouri and San Francisco. Lawlessness was at its peak around 1880; the railroad brought folks of all sorts including some notorious names like Doc Holliday, Big Nose Kate, Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, Hoodoo Brown and Dave Mather. Very good condition with a few small smudges on cover. Rough trim on one side. Quite scarce in commerce with six copies listed on OCLC as of April 2023. This literary keepsake reproduces a hand-written inscription that J. Frank Dobie left for his friend Everette Lee DeGolyer, Sr. In a copy of "Tales of the Mustang". .

N.D.. A trade card for a boat builder out of Minnesota with b&w illustration. Blank on verso and measures 4 ¾" x 3 ½". Card is in good condition with light soiling to edges and on verso. Trade card states "J. G. Schmidt, Boat Builder - Canoes, hunting boats, launches, row boats, oars, paddles - Manufacturer of toboggans and skis - 707 Virginia Ave, Cor. West Minnehaha Street St. Paul, Minn." along with a phone number and connecting car lines. Documentation can be found of J. G. Schmidt's business starting in 1880 but likely this trade card was printed around 1900. .

Morris, NY: A. S. Avery, Job Printer. Very Good. Broadside. Broadside measuring 17 ½" x 24" with black lettering and decorative border. No content of verso. Published circa 1859. In very good condition with minor creasing to top edge, one ¼" tear to bottom edge not affecting content and very light foxing. From the first lines of the broadside: "The subscriber calls attention of all dairymen and all other persons interested in the art of butter making, to this improved atmospheric churn. Patented by J. H. Bump of Morris, Oswego County, New-York, the 26th of October 1858." This wonderfully dramatic broadside entreats farmers to examine the churn, to discover the ease in which it is operated and the quality of butter produced, and to wonder at the cheapness of such a fine apparatus. Previous owner has written on verso "Weightmans Hardware - Gramps store in Oklahoma Territory - J. W. Weightman w/ wife & daughters and two sons". Mount has moderate soiling, minor chipping to corners and an imprint of another portrait on verso. Photograph has light soiling. Overall good. This photograph depicts J. W. Weightman's Hardware with wares and the family in front of the store. Worthy of more research, this photo was likely taken in the late 19th or early 20th century. .
