Inner hinge paper split but binding is still nice and tight (probably glued down a little tight to begin with). Jacket is an attractive VG -- some small chips but clean and attractive in the mylar protective wrap.

Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 1934. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. Strong VG book, inscribed by Lane on the front blank fly. The book was given to his friend George A. Boyd and Boyd's wife gave the book to Richard H. Brown, who has written a full-page explanation of the provenance in pen on the front pastedown, along with his bookplate. Otherwise, the book is free of all marking, nice clean copy.

No. 144 of 160, signed by artist Roswitha Quadfleig. Illustrations on handmade Japanese paper, text on Heritage archive paper. Fantastic printing from polymer plates with synthetic-resin engraving and etching. Bold Slipcase (beautiful stripped matching case) is fine, as is the book. The typography on the title page is first-rate and the frieze illustrations are very striking. Superb fine-press work. Wonderful book.

One of six copies with an exrta suite of the intaglio illustrations and an original copper intaglio plate in a folder. Loose in sheets as issued, the set in vellum backed folder in slipcase. Signed by the publisher and Marcel North, with an additional proof strike of one of the plates and an original full-page pen-and-ink illustration (a preliminary sketch) on what looks like japanese vellum paper. Lovely copy, minor wear to the slipcase and dab of what looks like binders glue on the spine.
