Four volumes, three 8vo, one 12mo. Gilt titled cloth, rubbed, spine ends with some wear. Three are signed to the front endpapers by Rushton and one has pencil sketches to the same. All four volumes have well executed paintings in oil to their covers of small children, captioned "Roland" or "Una" and dated either 1911 or 1913. A unique and charming collection. Rushton was an Associate of the Royal College of Art.

(viii), 390 pp. Contemporary red half morocco over russet cloth boards, spine with raised bands, gilt lettered direct to one panel, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. 23 plates and 5 other illustrations in the text. Slight discolouration to the spine, a few minor marks and light rubbing to the extremities, else very good. Including a complete reprint of the Brighthelmston Guide of 1800.

London: Published for the Proprietors by W. Simpkin and R. Marshall, [1818-1819].. Small 8vo. Twentieth century brown buckram, each play with its original wrappers bound in and with a frontispiece portrait of a named actor in one of the principal roles. A very good set. William Oxberry published over a hundred plays in this series between 1818 and 1824, the frontispieces present here are variously dated as above.

Original gilt titled blue half morocco, spine slightly sunned with minor wear to the foot, some foxing and sunning to the cloth sides. A splendid collection of large cartoons with the usual dazzling array of detailed jokes and odd contraptions.

London: Printed by J.L.Cox and Son [for] the Royal Asiatic Society, 1833.. First edition thus. 4to. 6 pp. Original plain wrappers. Folding handcoloured plate featuring 7 illustrations of the "sheep-eater". Spine neatly restored to style, slight wear to the folds of the plate which also shows some marginal browning, very good overall. Originally published in volume III of the Transactions of the Royal Asiatic Society.

London: Printed by J.B. Nichols and Son, 1833.. First edition thus, 4to, 14 pp, followed by 53 plates, 8 of which are folding, some mostly light foxing, contemporary marbled endpaper bound in at the front. Modern dark blue half morocco, marbled sides, gilt titled spine, a very good copy. Originally published in "Archaeologia", the journal of the Society of Antiquaries, the year before.

Greenwich: Geo. E. Allen, [1820s].. Single sheet, 28 x 21 cm, printed on one side only. A little marked and creased, with cuttings from contemporary magazines pasted to the verso. A two column description of the tomb of John Oliver, which he prepared three decades before his death in 1793. Famous for allegedly using the sails of his mill to alert ships to the movements of Customs officers, he was also said to have been buried face down, as the Day of Judgement would turn the world upside down.

Newton Abbott: David & Charles Reprints, 1969.. Two volumes. 8vo. (xii), xx, 551, (1), 82; (iv), viii, 574, (2) pp. Publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettered to the spines, dust jackets. Folding frontispiece to each volume, 4 folding maps, 3 folding plates and 15 full page plates printed back-to-back to the rear of volume II. Jacket spines slightly tanned and marked, small chip to the rear panel of volume I, else very good. Originally published in 1820.

London: Printed for George Cowie and Co., 31 Poultry, 1824.. 8vo. x, [ii], 207, [1] pp. Original brown cloth, recased and rebacked preserving original spine, original paper label, plain endpapers. Slight loss to cloth at head and foot of spine, paper browned throughout but more pronounced at front and rear of volume. Scarce. Edward Curr arrived in Tasmania, from England, in 1820, subsequently becoming an agent for the Van Diemen's Land Company. Wantrup states that the text was compiled from Curr's memoranda and notes by George Daniel. Ferguson also notes that a copy in the NLA belonging to Daniel bears a manuscript note declaring himself the editor and the principal author of the work. Ferguson, 938. Wantrup, pp. 124-5.

London: George Philip and Son, 1891.. First English edition. Large 8vo. xx, 404 pp. Recent tan half calf over marbled boards, spine with raised bands, blindstamped and gilt rules, red and green gilt lettered labels, gilt decoration to other panels, pale red edges. Chromolithograph frontispiece, twelve black and white lithographed plates, eight mounted photographs and three maps. Some trivial spotting towards front and rear of the volume, dark tinge to the edge of some of the plate leaves (not affecting the images), a very good copy. The work describes Hans Meyer's second and successful attempt to reach the highest of Kilimanjaro's three peaks, Kibo, in 1889. He had fallen short on a previous attempt two years earlier. Meyer, along with the Austrian mountaineer Ludwig Purtscheller, were the first Europeans known to have attained the summit.
