Photo frontispiece showing ten variations of the blue dun fly. Three additional plates, two of which are colored showing how Mr. Skues dresses his nymphs. There is an amusing chapter at the end of book, "Chapter X. What we Have to Put with at the Club / Doggerel from the Club Journal / This is Mine." Mr. Skues describes in rhymes his curiosity and parody of the dry fly. This book firmly established G. E. M. Skues and his methods as the preeminent force in early twentieth century fly fishing. Laid-in this volume is correspondence between a former owner of the book and Jack Dennis. In his letter the former owner complains about the mounted fly dressed by Mr. Dennis, a Mormon Girl. He points out the fly was not dressed using golden pheasant neck feathers for the tail, as called for in the original dressing. A brief letter in response from Jack Dennis apologizes for the misstep and the original pattern using golden pheasant feathers was mounted in a new copy of the book and sent back to the owner.
