A simple album neatly collecting 26 Rackham illustrations from St. Nicholas and other magazines. The plates are tipped in at the tops. The sizes vary slightly but are mostly 22 x 15cm and are on glossy paper blank on the back. St. Nicholas was a quality American magazine for children published by Scribner's between 1873 to 1941. These plates would have been from ca. 1910 to 1920. They are titled and most say "painted for St. Nicholas by Arthur Rackham". One is from the Century magazine. These would be first appearances of art. The album has a few light spots on the cover. A few of the plates have lower corners bent but not into the illustration.

Includes full page color by Cassandre and Vaserely and full page photos by Brassai. Near fine condition one blank page has a small hole. Else clean. Many great ads plus article by Vaserely on "Optique, Graphisme et publicite". Chapters on WW2 posters, Chapters on various businesses. Great survey of advertising art, design and photography.

Art Forum was the critical journal of modern art in 1971. It had never featured a photographer before this issue. Placing Arbus's photo on the cover and having the article with 5 more photos was a recognition and approval of the value of Photography as a serious "Art " form. The photos were from the portfolio she was making called "A box of ten photographs". She had planned to create 50 sets but only completed 8 before she committed suicide in July, 1971. She is now considered among the most influential artists of the 20th century. The photos in this issue are now iconic but were not well known at the time of publication. This magazine is really like new and rare in this condition.

Created by a group of San Francisco restaurateurs to raise money for people fighting AIDS and joined by artists, writers and printers to create this portfolio. A benefit dinner was held June 8, 1987. There are 23 letterpress broadsides of recipes from restaurants and cookbook authors all printed by different artists and printers. Also 10 color prints and 4 preliminary leaves. Limited to 500 copies. Fine condition. Clean and bright leaves. Contributors include Chez Panisse, Stars, Zuni Cafe, MFK Fisher, James Beard, Marion Cunningham, Diana Kennedy, Calvin Trillin and others. Printers include Arion Press and David Lance Goines.

Light soiling and wear to the spine. Small remnant of tape inside front cover. Chapter on fly tying and a foldout map of the Atlantic coast fishing rivers.
