Attributed to Count Amadeo Preziosi (1816 1882) the "Maltese painter known for his watercolours and prints of the Balkans, Ottoman Empire and Romania. " (Wikipedia, 2017) Painted circa 1865, this work relates very closely to Preziosis celebrated lithograph of the same subject (Rubens no. 2425) which is held in the permanent collection of the Jewish Museum.
