VG for age/No Jacket. 15 Cm x 22.5 Cm. xxxix+583, numerous unnumbered text ills, inc.occ. full page; main internal fault is occasional brown flecking, verging on heavier browning a few places, technically ex-lib. as verso t.p. has an early university library stamp overstamped 'withdrawn', however no other indiciations whatsoever of lib.provenance inside or out. Vocer boards bright and minimally worn, spine somewhat darkened with a few marks plus some end rubbing;, very close scrutiny reveals this has been very skillfully relaid, with a consequent implication that the very clean endpapers may also not be original. An extremely scarce and ambitious work, previously issued in 1869 in 2 volumes. Good-VG/No Jacket. 14.5 Cm x 22.5 Cm. 100 pp., 17 figs; 10 untitled chapters, no 'Contents' page apparently issued; early sig.top fr.free endpaper, tiny mark to verso fr.free endpaper & facing half-title, otherwise internally clean, tight & unmarked; covers generally clean, boards fairly bright but sp.a tad dull & extremeties and joints all rubbed/bumped, though none very seriously.

Half textured cloth covers and shiny cloth sp. & corners, with dec. gilt dividing lines and paneled gilt decorated and lettered sp, two tiny nicks to sp. ends and touch of rubbing to outer corner tips, light rippling to shiny sp. region cloth strips but otherwise clean, bright and unworn. f/piece cartoon of Man in the Club Window + 378 + (6. James Hogg and Sons pub. list), all edges gilt, 2 gatherings a little proud at top edge but this seems to be binding error. Main problem is tanning spots and patches, quite heavy to front end-papers, f/piece and t.p., reducing to p.15, marginal spots resuming c. p.305 but becoming increasingly heavy after p. 365 to end, end-gutters thinly split but quite secured. UUndated but pre. owner has penciled (1859)to lower t.p. which seems about right. 12 cm x 17 cm

Gilt-decorated cloth (5 green, 4 blue), all with fr. cover gilt ill. of pheasants beneath a castle, small central gilt ill of deer beneath tree to back, gilt spine ills.as appropriate for title. all near pristine bar a few tiny hints or corner bumping. All vols with uncut fore- and bottom edges, top edges gilt, all with red silk place-markers. All vols have 7-9 ill. plates with tissue guards inc. f/pieces, these variously photos or drawings, occ. coloured, some have additional text figs, all haves mall head and tail-pieces, all have an initial series title with red heraldic logo to centre. . Black library cloth with gilt sp. lettering, but this oddly has ''Mr. Churchill's Publications on Anatomy etc.; looks as if binder did not look beyond 16 pp. pub. list with which book opens, otherwise pristine. 16 (aforementioned 1843 pub.list ) + viii + (1, corridenga) + 228; small purple lib. stamp centre t.p. which recurs three times (as far as I can see) in main text; otherwise clean, tight and unmarked with new end-papers. Disease of the Eyes coverage in Part I, Part II from p.126 has 9 chapters on various topics inc. skull fracture, indigestion, gout & rheumatism and breast cancer. Author was an interesting man also closely involved with public health and 'Health and Safety' issues of working peoples' lives. Apparently rare.

Originally published as the 4th Bridgewater Treatise in 1832, then revised by author up to 4th ed., Shaw then seems to have added more material to the 5th and then his prefatory 'Account' to 1860 6th ed. xxxv+260, unnumbered engraved text figs, head & tail-pieces intermittently throughout, brown endpapers/pastedowns; small heraldic label of M.R. Westropp to front pastedown ('Post Funera Virtus'), surface has some brown pigment off-set from facing brown endpaper, later owner's small gilt label top same (mine in fact), end-gutter papers cracked but secure (rear one only partially so), otehrwise internally clean, tight & unmarked, textblock edges dust-free, covers sound but a few marks and extensive light surface rubbing, spine slightly darkened with slight rubbing to gilt… Leer más

Fine leather binding with texture leather boards with decorated impressed borders, spine with impressed decorated panel with gilt on black title label ' The Hand' and gilt on red author label 'Bell', gilt deckled edges, no significant faults - a couple of small darkish spots to back, a few suggestions of edge-rubbing being about it. Rear end-paper has very small label of bookbinder 'Dd.Batten' of Clapham Common which looks early enough to rule out a recent re-bind. Marbled end-papers and edges. xvi + 314, approx 45 text engravings (these un-numbered and unlisted); internally clean, tight and quite unmarked, no tanning or foxing. Stippled black leather with, gilt bordered panel ridges, gilt on black label 'Bell on the Hand', all extremities rubbed to varying degree from moderate to slight, otherwise clean and unworn. Marbled end-papers and top edge gilt.. xvi + 314, approx 45 text engravings (these un-numbered and unlisted); numerous foxing spots to inner sides of end-papers, front blank fly and rear blank (v. slightly affecting final page), otherwise clean, tight and unmarked. Although a 2nd (unaltered) edition was issued later the same year this is clearly marked as such. 13.5 cm x 22 cm

Bright yellow/orange cloth with black lettering and palm line drawing to fr. and black sp. lettering, slight bump bottom outer corner, faint hint of darkening to sp. ends where exposed by jacket chips, otherwise clean and unworn. f/pice drawing of pal of Sir Edward Marshall-Hall Q.C. + 125, numerous text figures throughout, some very small; no obvious faults. Unclipped jacket in protective sleeve as acquired, large chip across top sp. onto ttop inner corner of fr., small chip to fr. bottom sp. all corners chipped, most small but top fr. outer corner about 2cm square, despite these faults it is genuinely clean and bright with no significant text loss except of 'AH' to title top sp. Apparently very scarce, 12 cm x 19 cmespecially with jacket in any condition.

Good+. 16 Cms x 23.5 Cms. viii+302+pocket with tables on end pastedown, 188 text figs, pub.lists fr.pastedown & endpaper, corrected table tipped in between pp.22/23+inserted small pub.note on this; ex-University of London lib. with their heraldic label & withdrawn stamp fr.pastedown (obscuring much of pub.list), sm.round stamps verso t.p. and end text, A.W.Waller's sig.top t.p., with sl.ink-offsetting to facing endpaper, fr.gutter cracked but tight, rear gutter opening, trace of ticket pocket end pastedown. T.p. calls for 6 tables in the end pocket, there are actually five items but one has 2 tables on it so presume complete. Covers clean but sl.shaken & rubbed along joints & extrems, no external lib.marks. This appears to be one of the scarcer of Ostwald's many publications.

A scarce Swedish compendium of papers on ergonomics.

Covers clean and virtually unworn bar slight top spine rubbing, spine ettering dull, white lib.number towards bottom and just a hint of rubbing. Scarce in UK.
