Unclipped jacket is clean with hint of top-edge rubbing but heavily tanned across top front edge and lower front joint, while sp. also lightly tanned but with odd heavier spots, top back edge and joint also thinly affected. An autobiography of the founder of Cybernetics. 14 cm x 22 cm

VG-/No Jacket. 13 Cms x 19 Cms. 305 pp., small 1945-dated sig. top half-title, main problem is foxing, occ. quite heavy, to verso front endpaper, very faintly to t.p.but heavy to top of verso and facing page, verso rear endpaper and end pastedown also extensively, but lightly, affected, trace also to recto front endpaper, flecking also to uncut fore-edge and top edge, main text quite unaffected, otherwise clean, tight & unmarked; covers clean and unworn. Apparently extremely scarce. Detailed autobiographcal account of the case and male writer's treatment in which free association technique was a major approach. Good-VG/No Jacket (none Issued?). 17.5 Cms x 24 Cms. ix+303+(1, notice); this would be very good were the end gutters not cracking exposing netting before t.p. and, slightly less severely, between pp.302/3, I suspect this is a production fault, signed on t.p. 'To my colleague Joshua Berier - with kind regards - N. Schipkowensky Sofia 15.XI.1967', despite this the words 'Review Copy' are inscr.top fr.free endpaper; covers clean, bright and minimally worn. Slipped in is a sheaf of 9 half-folded leaves of carbon-copies of reviews of author's other works: 2 pages by H.Ellenberger on 'Pathologische Reaktionen der Personlichkeit Vol.1' (1960), and two copies of another 2 pp. by him apparently on Vol.2 (both for American Journal of Psychiatry), Oscar Diethelm 2 pp. on 'Schwachsinn und Verbrechen' for same journal, and a single page by G.Potzl on a 1938 work (in German).

Eleven essays on a variety of topics including cultural history, fashion, Nazi radio propaganda, social sciences, and museums, as well a hacing a general concern with aesthetics. 18 cm x 25 cm

London: Watts Thinkers Library, 1948. 1st thus, 1st ed.-1941 . Hardcover. Fine-/No Jacket. 11 Cms x 16.5 Cms. Series no.119. endpapers have red lamp motif decoration, series list+xii+218, internally fine, covers just slightly marred by thin fading strips alongside spine (but not spine itself), much slighter fading top back edge and trivial black mark bottom spine. The red cloth cover, with silver spine lettering, is quite plain late series version with only small impressed 'Thinker' logo bottom front corner. This is perhaps the preferred edition as it has Heath's short but informative Introduction. Stebbing had died in 1943.

A very acceptable copy.

Half leather and marbled board covers, firm and recently conserved both spines relaid on leather, originally seriously end-chipped, generally clean but light to moderate edge-rubbing to most cover edges, top edge Vol.I back cover has thin strip of marbled paper loss and small patch of faint furface rubbing. 1st edition with Heinruch Luden's 'Einleitung' . Vol.I. : lxii (Einleitung to lxv)+431; Vol.II: vi+513, all edges blue; Both Vols have heraldic plate of W.G. Peene to front pastedown (with erased motto!), both tanned to varying extents more or less throughout but no deterioration of paper and legibility unaffected, occ. corner creasing (now unfolded). Seems to be the favoured edition due to Luden's contribution. Uncommon outside Germany. Good-VG/No Jacket. 14.5 Cm x 21 Cm. xiv+249, 6 unf.charts; sm.neat eraseable pencil sig.front free endpaper (F.R.Cowell) dated 1932, occ.sm.eraseable pencilled marginal lines and marginalia to latter part of book but these innocuous and easily eliminated, otehrwise internally clean and tight; covers clean but sp. faded, patchy pigment loss along fr.joint and sl.corner bumping. Slipped in are 2 carbon copies of a review (just a couple of lines over 2pp), presumably by F.R.Cowell, top r.h. corners have rust-marks from pins which I have replaced by staples, also a compliments slip from Cambridge University Press with a few notes on the back, Cambridge UP having been the UK publishers although this not mentioned in printed text. Uncommon in UK. An interesting exercise in statistics applied to behavioural and social phenomena, not usually figuring in histories of Psychology or Sociology.
