Remarkably scarce.

Good+. 12 Cms x 19.5 Cms. unf.frontispiece - a facs. of 1652 letter to George Fox from 6 followers+xxiv+484+(1, Errata); yellow endpapers much discoloured centrally, front endpaper inscribed 'To Robeert Wheeler Esqu. with the assuranceof the christian regard of his obliged sincered Friend the Author'; verso same has tipped in Obituary of author from the Aylesbury News, 1847, outer edge f t.p.a little worn and top corners to p.xxii a little rubbed, both end-gutters opening, will try to secure these when ordered, text-block firm; covers clean but though boards are excellent the spine is vertically ridged and wrinkled. An interesting copy of this scarce work in which the author explained his reasons for resigning from the Society of Friends. He subsequently became an Anglican minister.

Scarce.

Good-. 16 Cms x 23.5 Cms. xii+387, pub.list verso p.387, 12 text figs, 2 col.plates after p.370; innocuous small (15 mm) round stamp of Birmingham Assay Office Library bottom fr. endpaper, pp.197-206 bottom outer corners a little crumpled, some pp.147-177, have small marginal blue inkblots, otherwise internally clean, ight and unmakred; covers have extensive light surface rubbing, front has large circular stain, front joint split top to bottom exposing netting and top back joint also has 1.5 cm split, outer corners all rubbed with cloth breaks. Apparently very scarce but this clearly a reference/ working copy only. Rapidly outdated by greatly enlarged 1935 edition.

Uncommon. Appears to have been issued as a 2nd vol. to the 1876 edition (also in my listing, with uniform binding) which t.p. has as Volume I, this though has now Volume number, the pub.catalogues are identical but the order of contents appears to be very similar.

VG+/Good+. 14.5 Cm x 22 Cm. xv+268, text figs. numbered by chapter; internally clean, tight and unmarked in clean unworn covers, just a hint of rubbing to bottom spine and slight bump bottom front outer corner; unclipped jacket clean but small chip top front cover beside top spine and a couple of minor edge nicks., also a very thin white line to front caused by lamination crease, v.small patch of transparent tear-repair tape visible bottom front corner but will be fainter once protective sleeve is added (when ordered). This UK Rider edition apparently extremely scarce and no UK copies of any edition listed on at time of cataloguing. . Note: quoted shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight, cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range.

Differs from 1st ed. in having additional coverage of partical wave analysis and new chapter on the Dirac equation.

Good-VG. 15 Cm x 17.5 Cm. iii (Index)+375; Text consists of a verse/poem on l.h. facing 2 days of the calendar with a short list of saints and famous women (birth or death dates presumably), or occasionally events (June 16th & 17th strangely empty !). A previous owner has added occ.further names (about 5 I think - one dated 1888). Bound in vellum wrapped round card but firmly affixed. The title is on red on front and t.p. No indication of author or date of publication but, at a guess, 1901-1914 as Queen Victoria's funeral in 1901 is included.. Vellum cover is quite dusty but this responds fairly well to rubbing with an ordinary pencil eraser. Clearly Catholic in inspiration (The Queen being the Virgin Mary) and the verses are not ascribed to anyone so presumably are the author's. Very Good. 22 cms x 26 Cms. 27 pp., contents tight (despite being three gatherings held by a single stitch) & clean, although as edges are uncut there is some sl.dustiness and rubbing to these; the blue paper wrap is sl.smaller in area than text, clean but creased w. some chipping at sp.ends, unrpinted but inscribed in ink by author to a M. Fougeur. Discusses causes of white or grey hair and how this may be chemically prevented, spina bifida, whether scirrhus is genuinely a form of cancer, and inflammation of the tendons.

Coverage of: 'The Reform in Psychology', the 'hypothesis of the subconscious', genius, 'growth of public opinion psychologically considered', pragmatism, recidivism, pessimism, ethics and 'the cult of Nietzsche'. Author was Lecturer in philosophy at Queen's University Belfast.
