Bound in cloth, but retaining the original pictorial front wrapper, with title in gilt on spine and owner's name in gilt on front. Vocal Score in wrappers price net cash 6s.0d. A couple of clean tears to the preserved front wrapper; some crumpling and wear at inner margin of title-leaf, otherwise near fine copy.

(London: Stainer House: 1891-5) Half leather ruled and lettered in gilt on spine (that is, hard covers) pp. iv, 385-387 Index to Vol II, 257-384, 1-380, 1-128. A ‘semidiagramatic view of a deep dissection of the cranial nerves on the left side of the head’ with accompanying text is additional to pagination. Twenty issues of this massively detailed publication, with the colonial bookseller’s sticker (W.C. Rigby, Bookseller Stationer and Newsagent, 74 King William Street Adelaide) on fixed rear endpaper. Rigby, presumably the binder of this compilation, developed into the foremost South Australian publisher of books in the twentieth century. Leather worn at extremities; cloth silverfished on rear and flecked on front; front external hinge starting to split; binding firm; internally (apart from a vertical crease to every issue indicating postal delivery) about fine.

Some foxing mainly to the top and fore edges otherwise a very good copy in dust-jacket whose spine is a little faded and which has a small hole near its front flap hinge, is a little worn at head and foot of its spine, but which is otherwise good.

Decorated cloth (that is, hard covers) pp. 124, 58 publisher’s advertisements dated September 1895 (217 x 145 mm). Edges uncut. An ownership inscription blacked out at the head of the title page and a couple of ownership stamps within. An inscription dated 1899 on verso of front free endpaper. Head and foot of spine and corners of boards rubbed; otherwise very good.

Illustrated with Frontispiece and five other coloured plates. Prize label of Christ Church Sunday School, Mount Barker dated January 1876 on front fixed endpaper. Head and foot of spine, external hinges and edges and corners of boards worn; inner hinges detached; otherwise internally very good.

A London doctor in search of his Naturalist brother meets a beautiful white queen ruling islanders, a thousand miles north of the Society Islands, elsewhere identified as an island on the edge of the Marquesas (p. 97); she is presumably of French descent as she says ‘zis’ and ‘zat’. This edition seems to be unrecorded. A strip of discoloration from damp along the lower external hinge. Foxing to early leaves, heaviest to title-page, otherwise a very good copy.
