The blue cloth boards are marked with scuffs and frays around edges particularly at corners. There is a part of the spine missing which also is worn. Inside previous owners bookplate, a newspaper cutting about the unveiling of the Falkland islands battle memorial (circa 1927). Foxing throughout ( more prevalent at the beginning of book). the binding is cracked in several places but pages secure.

Hardcover in slipcase. Slipcase is in good condition with a small tear to top of back cover. Bound in quarto leather over decorative paper boards with gilt lettering to spine with top edged gilt. The binding is in very good condition except for the paper on both top corners has been ripped away. Inside near fine.

Inside previous owners book plate on paste down. with contemporary press reviews for volume 1 having been pasted on the FFE papers, intermittent foxing throughout both volumes though mostly on end papers. Previous owners notes neatly in pencil throughout volumes. Volume 2 hinge cracked on page viii but binding is sound.

Inside starting to title page but holding nicely with binding firm and tight, all pages and plates with full edge gilt in lovely clean and bright condition. Very Scarce.
