All in the original pictorial wrappers as issued, staples variously rusted but all intact, volume 1 no.1 is dilapidated with the covers detached and one leaf loose, the occasional corner creased, otherwise all in very good condition. *Picture Post was a photojournalistic magazine published in the United Kingdom from 1938 to 1957. It is considered a pioneering example of photojournalism and was an immediate success, selling 1,700,000 copies a week after only two months. It has been called the UK's equivalent of the USA 'Life' magazine.

He drew the figures of Drosera and Dionaea for Insectivorous Plants; inherited Down House in 1882.

All in the original wrappers except for no.450, for all those after that number the wrappers are detached, fragile and chipped at the edges with some loss, the first leaves are occasionally dusty. *Nothing by Turing, of course, but still a large amount of interest.

Printed on paper, c. 63 x 52 cms., at one time folded into four, now lined with tissue and repaired at folds and edges, some loss of paper at the edges, the loss of a few characters in the folds, but otherwise in remarkably good condition; on the reverse in blue pencil is the contemporary note - 'Taken out of a deserted Boer Farm'. This was taken by and came back to England with CAPTAIN H. E. M. STUDDY, of the Imperial Yeomanry, 85th.Company, 2nd. Battalion [he left South Africa for England aboard HMS Canada, July 18th. 1901]. *This Proclamation, one of many issued during the Boer Wars, was put out during the second phase of the Second Boer War, two days before Roberts considered the war over and England victorious. There followed two further years of a guerilla war, the third phase. The Orange Free State had been annexed on May 28th. 1900, and renamed the Orange River Colony. Coloured paper boards, book block stapled onto the back but staples now rusted and the block loose, occasional foxing, a bit of rubbing, the glazed paper of the boards coming a little loose at the lower edges, overall still a good copy. *COPAC gives Cambridge only. The front paste-down offers 'Practical Hints as to how to Use the Palette and Colours'. The Palette is here present, a book-shaped card with thumb-hole, glazed to one side for the paints, a few splodges of which are still seen. The Paint Box, a black enamel tinned container with its full complement of 12 blocks of paint, is contained within a cut out at the top of the book block, c.4 x 2.5 inches. Two of the six illustrations have been competently copied. None of the other outline pictures has been painted in.

. A set of 175, of 200 [lacking box no.4], stereocards in 7 book boxes, all cards are numbered, title below, and descriptive text in double-column on the reverse. Boxes 1, 2 and 3 in maroon paper-covered book boxes, nos.2 and 3 a little faded and dilapidated though complete, boxes 5-8 in faded green paper, without damage. All cards and images in very good condition. *The numbering of the cards is somewhat eccentric, with many A, B and C cards. Box 3 contains cards numbered up until no.40, box 5 begins at no.48A - thus box 4 would have contained those cards numbered between 40 and 48. Each box contains 25 cards, the numbering running from 1 [box 1] to 100A [box 8].
