All the coloured plates in the above are by him, also many of the text illustrations, some of which are printed in colours. The entire text of these periodicals is written in doggerel verse.

Late nineteenth century morocco, flat-backed, the spine wearing along the edges, joints intact, the title laid down with name cut from the upper margin not affecting text, else in very good condition. *The last gasp of the Julian Calendar before the adoption of the Gregorian in 1752. An early ms. marginal note refers to this change.

Original sheep, rubbed, worn and suitably ink marked, a light damp mark affecting the top edge for the first 100 or so pages, a reasonable copy. *With the author's signed authentication at the front of the book. NO COPY in the BL.

Pavia. 1794. Elephant folio. 10, of 14, plates only.. Comprising 7 outline plates and 3 fully engraved plates, lacking the full plates numbers 1 to 4. All plates engraved by FAUSTINO ANDERLONI. The outline plates are on heavy paper, SHEET SIZE : 62.5 X 47 cms. The full plates have been cropped to within the plate mark for tab. 5 and short of the plate marks for tabs. 6 and 7. All plates are foxed and spotted, the outline plates have an old and faded damp-mark in the top gutter corner, the full plate for image 5 is torn in the lower left corner with a very small bit of loss affecting the image and has two adhesion spots in the left border with tiny bits of loss not affecting the image. The plates are sewn together in a dismantled atlas, condition as above. TALES : original cloth-backed boards, lower corners bumped and worn at the front, a little chewing of the end-papers by silverfish, two of which are neatly squashed on the rear end-papers, joints firm and contents clean; MEMORIALS : original white cloth now grubby, joints cracked but holding, top edge gilt, uncut, contents clean, both offered together as very good working copies.

Publisher's blue cloth of the series - Nash's Famous Fiction Library, now faded, spine ends rubbed, signature of R[ICHARD?] GARNETT on the front free end-paper, else a very good copy. *RICHARD GARNETT (27 February 1835 – 13 April 1906) scholar, librarian, biographer and poet. He was son of Richard Garnett, an author, philologist (historical linguist) and assistant keeper of printed books in the British Museum. He entered the British Museum in 1851 (the year following his father's death) as an assistant librarian. In 1875, he became superintendent of the Reading Room, in 1881, editor of the General Catalogue of Printed Books, and in 1890 until his retirement in 1899, Keeper of Printed Books.

Original printed and decorated wrappers, uncut, signature of MAY SICKARD on the front cover, inscription in ink on title - 'Presented by the O.U.D.S. for R. Herle Nicholson for use in Miss Mordern Grey's production. All other use of this version is reserved by the O.U.D.S.'. A very good copy. *Only one copy is recorded by COPAC, at the Shakespeare Institute, Birmingham.
