[nice clean book with minimal shelfwear, one-time owner's initials plus date & place of purchase and a brief commentary in ink along edge of rear pastedown (concealed beneath jacket flap); the jacket has some minor wear at the spine extremities, but is overall bright and attractive]. A sharp-looking copy of the first "D.A. Doug Selby" mystery, a series to which Gardner turned for the occasional break from cranking out Perry Mason books (at least until 1949, when the last of the nine Selby books appeared). The jacket design on this early G&D reprint is identical to that of the William Morrow first edition. Much less common (and considerably more durable) than the cheaply-produced Triangle Books edition from the 1940s. .

(color and B&W photographs) Catalog for the exhibition "Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives," which was presented at D23 Expo 2011 at the Anaheim (California) Convention Center, and was "more than double the size" of the original exhibition, which had been part of the same event two years earlier. It was a showcase for "a treasure trove of crown jewels from the Walt Disney Archives Collection, including props, set pieces, photographs, costumes, and memorabilia from beloved Disney films and entertainment and important artifacts from the Company's unique and extraordinary history." Quite scarce; produced in an edition of just 2,000 copies, this is a must-have for any Disney history aficionado. .

Novel set in the South Pacific, about a Dutch tramp-steamer captain who "rescues" a mysterious prisoner who's being held in chains in the hold of another ship, and gets a lot more than he bargained for. "Red, the prisoner, turns out to be a mercenary soldier, a trouble-maker, a womanizer. But on Christ's Island, with its idyllic Christian community, Red's diabolical genius becomes useful when the island is invaded by civilization in the form of an international task force setting up an airstrip." [well-worn ex-rental library book with associated elements: a big stamp on the front pastedown ("American Lending Library Inc. -- Never Sold / Only Loaned"), a typewritten blurb (cribbed from the jacket text) pasted to the ffep; the jacket is backed with brown paper and thoroughly glued down at the flaps, with a large chip at the top of the front panel (taking about half the title with it), about half the spine missing, heavy edge- and surface-wear]. Contemporary reprint of Powell's fourth novel, generally considered one of her best early works; apparently printed from the Farrar & Rinehart plates (including the F&R colophon on the copyright page). (no dust jacket) [clean attractive book, with just a bit of wear at base of spine, light diagonal scrape (or smudge) across spine, staining/discoloration to both pastedowns (inside front/rear covers); book comes with a custom-cut clear mylar protective cover]. One of the last novels published by this Austrian-American novelist and screenwriter prior to her emigration from Vienna to the U.S. at the outbreak of World War II. She settled in Hollywood, and had a couple of dozen writing credits, for both film and TV, over the succeeding twenty years. This particular novel was the basis for the 1946 B-movie HER SISTER'S SECRET, directed by Edgar G. Ulmer. .
