Maps in a Mirror: The Short Fiction of Orson Scott Card Hardcover First Edition - First Printing TOR Tom Doherty and Associates Books 1990. Signed/inscribed (to me) with one of Card's typical dictums which he often would write in his books. This one "A glance in the glass", signed and dated 13 July 1991. Short story collection containing several divisions of stories, including The Hanged Man: Tales of Dread, Flux: Tales of Human Futures, Maps in a Mirror: Fables and Fantasies, etc. This book has been in my possession for about 26 years and well-cared for. Time to release it to another Card fan.

The Master of Ballantrae by Robert Louis Stevenson (author of Treasure Island, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Kidnapped, the Black Arrow) Hardcover First US Edition - First State Charles Scribner's Sons 1889. No preface and 2 pages of adds to the back. Includes 10 plate illustrations including a frontispiece flanking the title page. (The true first edition was published by Cassell in London and runs about $400 to $500.)Near Fine pages in Very Good binding. Generally a nice copy. The binding is solid, some fraying to upper and lower spine, most pages are very clear, one repaired tear to one page. A very nice presentation of Stevenson's period novel with political overtones. The Master of Ballantrae takes place in the 18th century and involves two Scottish brothers of the nobility during the mid-18th century uprising in Scotland. Medieval Leaf (i.e. a page with front and back) probably a religious text created in either a scribal house or monastic scriptorium. Nice letters in black, red and blue inks. The heading seems to be February on one side and January on the other which indicates this is probably a religious text, once part of a religious book indicating observances for certain months. According to a scholar, it's from a book about Candlemas. Different sized lettering throughout.Size, Date, Material and Region: Folio, measuring 14.5x10" (37x25.5cm) on parchment/vellum (i.e. animal skin) probably dating from circa 1375 to 1425 in Germany or eastern France. Condition: Overall a Near Fine example! Very bold and nice looking late medieval example of a medieval leaf (page) NO tearing on very robust parchment. Slight fraying on the edge where the leaf had been bound into its book. Even though some of the black ink text has oxidized slightly over time it is still very bold and sharp. Includes fifteen (15) engravings (as called for) of religious clerics in their garb. Originally published in Latin in 1656. Size, Binding: Medium folio, measuring 12x8x1" (30.5x18x2.5 cm). Later half-leather, probably circa 1900 with marbled end-papers. Looseness to the back board but holding.Collation: Blank, title page (i), Dedication (iii-iv), To the Reader (v-viii), main text (1-331, numerous pagination errors but collates complete), Catalogue, General Table (unpaginated but ends with "Finis"). Mr. Jones and Mr. Finnigan by Eva Knox Evans and Erick Berry Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1941. $1.00 cover price. Tan cloth with jacket. Fully illustrated with both b&w and four-color images/pictures. Scarce children's book about the virtues of eating in moderation. Mr. Finnigan is an overweight glutton and his friend Mr. Jones eats in moderation. As the story progresses, Mr. Jones begins behaving like his friend and starts getting fat!
Essentially Near Fine+ in Very Good+ Dust Jacket. Book is solid and clean with the occasional spot here and there. Chip to the lower spine and nicks and repaired tears to the jacket which is typical of most children's books published prior to circa 1980. A nice example of what appears to be a very uncommon if not scarce children's book and desirable in its original dust jacket. I could find very little information about this book.

First Edition of Virginia Woolf's most famous novel with scarce original dust jacket, nearly completely intact! Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf (sometimes misspelled as "Wolf") Hardcover First Edition - First Printing - Second State Jacket New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1925. Issue Points: Light orange boards , copyright 1925 with no indication of later printings or any other markings on the copyright page indicating a first printing. (Conforms to other listings of first editions I've seen online.)
Clothed in a bright yellow and orange second state dust jacket with $2.50 cover price present on both flaps of the jacket. Second state or variant jacket with "Virginia Woolf" in large letters on the back with quotes praising her work, and the cover price horizontal on the flaps and advertisement for "To the Lighthouse" on the back flap (also priced at $2.50), probably issued in 1926/7.
