Gilt embossed lettering to the front board and spine. Upper edges gilt. Illustrated with 16 b/w plates, including frontispiece plate as called for. The book has some spine lean. Bump to one corner and to the head and tail of the spine. A little toning to the spine and a little soiling to the top corner of the front board and a few light stains to teh front edge of the rear board. Light rubbing to the board corners. Previous owners ink name inscripton to the head of the front paste down. Splitting to the front inner hinge, now repaired. Scattered foxing throughout. Tightly bound. A very good copy.

The upper rear board corner bumped, a light bump to the upper front board corner and the tail of the spine a little bumped. No other inscriptions. Bumps to the upper two board corners with some light associated creasing to the overlying jacket. A slight bump to the tail of the spine. The jacket has not been price-clipped - it has some slight creasing in places to the tail and some shelf wear to the jacket. A very good, clean, tight flat signed copy.

Illustrated wtih numerous line drawings throughout and a colour frontispiece. Colour pictorial card covers. Split of 2.5 cm along the front edge of the spine strip. A few light reading creases to the spine and light shelf wear to the card covers, including the corner tips being lightly turned. Text supported with numerous contemporary advertisements. Slight splitting to the front inner hinge, though the front card cobre remains firmly attached. Ink lines to the margins of 3 pages and a paragraph from the chapter 'The Tortoise' has been scored out in ink pen. One page corner has been turned, leaving a neat crease. A good copy.
