(The Art of Drinking and the Art of Joking). Leather blind-printed covers with linen covering only on spline, covers are well-rubbed with worn corners. There are splits on the front and rear hinges at both the head and base of the spine, cut red blocks. Sound internal binding with brown end-papers with bookplate (Samuel Bradshaw) on inside front cover. Red and black title-page is damaged on lower leading edge and corner, is well-rubbed leading to the loss of small areas of text and has been re-backed. Initial pages before the Praefatio are a little darkened and there is a sort tear and crease in the upper corner of the margin of the first page of the Paraefatio, pages are otherwise clean and free from tears but there is some very light transference of the red from the blocks onto occasional pages. The last short piece "In Ebrietatem" which follows the fourth book of De Arte Iocandi may have a page(s) missing as there is a trailing word (Vta) at the end, the last two lines are "Sic armis illud vestris circundate monstrum, Caedeq prostrata tingite tela ferae". The page facing this has a reverse image of part of a handwritten document with an apparent renaissance signature. Text is in Latin. No dust jacket, as published. Quantity Available: 1.
