T.e.g. One of 10 lettered copies hand-set and printed letterpress and signed by the author. Preserved in a slip-case. No dust-jacket as issued. Includes an essay about what it may have been like to be a printer in the 15th Century, and two more about important printers from that period: Nicolaus Jenson and Aldus Manutius. There is also a chapter of autobiography, about the author's first years in Francestown. Finally there is a reminiscence of a much loved bookseller, David Low.

Very good. 215 p. 215 pp plus 8 pages ads at back A treasure with huge coloured pull-out map in perfect condition. This "Colonial Office Lists" started in 1862, and this is one of the very earliest. Moreover it is in magnificent condition, toned of course. The gilt titling and insignia are bright; corner bumps are minimal with no loss of color, tops of spine are undamaged. Ask for scans so as to see the very minor dark marks on front and back boards. Inside front board in a Victorian hand is written "Governor's Office."I also have 1866

Green soft leather binding, gilt edging and detail to boards, gilt college crest to front board, red leather label and gilt lettering and extensive detail to spine. Some scuffing, a little marking, small signs of shelf-wear but overall colouring of leather and gilt detail very vivid apart from rubbing to small part of crest on front board. Binding firm. Corners slightly bumped. Book fans out a little towards outer edges, slight curvature to boards. Page edges and endpapers have attractive marbling. College prizegiving bookplate to front pastedown. Spine with gilt thick and thin ruled and piped lines and oval centre pieces. Red morocco label, gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Edges a bit rubbed and bumped and small amount of chipping to the edges of the label, not affecting the lettering, but generally a very good copy.
