Sobre este artículo
Tehran, Iran: American Women's Club. Very Good. 1976. Fourth Edition. Hardcover. Blue, two ring binder with the white title lettering on the cover. 9" X 7". Illustrated throughout with quaint line drawn vignettes. These recipes and homemaker hints were collected in a far different era than today. Soon after publication, Iran went through the Islamic revolution, 1978-1979, 50 Americans were held hostage for 444 days. Rare, none found within the trade, two copies found on OCLC (1970 &1972 editions). Pp. [10] 1-269; Addendum [12 pages of additional recipes]; plus [38 pages of additional recipes] with index. Each section is divided by a stiff blue card, illustrated on the verso (front) and with a table of contents for that specific section on the recto (back). The first Table of Contents is on a single sheet of white paper w/o illustration, the first 4 sections pertain specifically to Iranian living. Exasperation Extinguishers - Water & Food Decontamination, Conversion Tables, Substitutions, High Altitude Hints, Helpful Hints, Local Foods / Excellence from the Embassies- the embassies represented with recipes are: Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Federal Republic of Germany, Greece, Hungarian, Japan, Federal Republic of Korea, Polish People's Republic, United Kingdom, United States of America, Venezuela. / Persian Pleasures (a collection of Persian recipes) / Dining Out (Recipes from local restaurants.) The balance of the bulk of the text are more typical headings such as Appetizers, Salads, Main Dishes etc. There is a 5-page English-Farsi Glossary; phonetic and written Farsi. The "Addendum" also has a table of contents on the recto (no illustration) and is composed of internationally mixed recipes. The final section also has a Table of Contents and is also international recipes. It appears that most of the recipes have the contributors name and as appropriate, their title. Overall, the condition is very good. The text is unmarked and unsoiled. There is light age tone throughout. There are no missing pages but four of the preliminaries are loosely laid in, not including the Title page which has hole reinforcers. The binder is bright and the lettering is quite clear and bright as well. There is a split along the top edge of the front cover and the is board showing. From the preface, "Many members of the American Women's Club of Tehran feel we are enjoying the best of two worlds.... members who have lived in Iran for some time have contributed the helpful hints that have facilitated adapting... The translations of terms and explanations ... we hope will make your Iranian homemaking easier and more adventurous. An exceptional piece of history. ; 8vo .
