Davies (1917-1990) was a USGS (United States Geological Survey) geologist, polar explorer, and recipient of the Antarctic Medal from US Congress. His work took him to Greenland, the Appalachian Mountains of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, and in Antarctica - where the Davies Escarpment is named after him. He authored more than 200 scientific and research titles." The book measures 227mm tall x 145mm and has 225 pages, folding map, several head of chapter b/w illustrations.
