Nice condition early leather-bound copy of "FRAGMENTA AUREA" - A Collection of All The Incomparable Peices, by Sir John Suckling. 1658 3rd edition (stated) "With some New Additionals"; Printed for Humphrey Moseley at the Prince's Arms in St. Paul's Churchyard; London. (Note - the last two works are dated 1659 on the title page.)
The book contains the following "Peices":
* Poems, &c.
* Letters to Diverse Eminent Personages: Written on Several Occasions
* An Account of Religion by Reason - A Discourse upon Occasion presented to the Earl of Dorset
* Aglaura - Presented at the Private-House in Black Fryers, By His Majesties Servants
* Aglaura - Represented at the Court, By His Majesties Servants
* The Goblins - A Comedy Presented at the Private-House in Black Fryers, By His Majesties Servants
* Brennoralt - A Tragedy Presented at the Private-House in Black Fryers, By His Majesties Servants
* The Last Remains of John Suckling - Being a Full Collection of All His Poems and Letters Which Have Been so Long Expected, and Never Till Now Published, With the Licence and Approbation of His Noble and Dearest Friends (1659)
* The Sad One - A Tragedy (1659)
Condition:
Worn corners, otherwise the covers are in very good condition with a nice spine label. Tight binding. No loose pages. The frontispiece portrait of Suckling has detached but is neatly trimmed and is clean with no tears (light pencil writing on the reverse). The pages are in terrific condition - clean with no writing found and only some light soiling to the title page and page A3; the bottom edge of page 55 is torn along the bottom edge (appears to be as-issued). Owner's bookplate affixed to the front pastedown. Overall the book is in very good condition.
