Sobre este artículo

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1954. Paperback. 8vo. Stiff blue printed wrappers. xviii, 316pp. Very good. Tight and internally fine, with mild wear and age toning to outer wrappers only. Attractive first edition of this "fresh contribution to basic thought, shows why the free nations... are creating the most dangerous tension of our time" -- definitely an early Cold War period piece. "Special Presentation Copy" leaf preceding title page on which Streit pens recipient's name in bright green ink as "Mrs. Nellie S. Thrum" and also signs boldly. Inside front wrapper bears handsome bookplate of relative of Thrum, noted academic administrator Deane W. Malott (1898-1996), educator who served as assistant dean at Harvard Business School, chancellor of University of Kansas and president of Cornell University. Streit (1896-1986) was a well-known American journalist and war correspondent who penned books advocating a federal union of world democracies as mankind's best hopes for a peaceful world.
