Modern maroon cloth binding with a Morocco title label on the spine to match; gold gilt lettering stamped to the spine label. Faint rubbing along the edges of the boards and to the corners. Some transfer staining from what appeared to be a brown paper bag onto pages 22 and 23--stain measures about 1.5"x 1". Overall, textblock is clean and tight. Numerous black-and-white illustrations in text. An attractive copy. A very concise reference for wine connoisseurs, this book encompasses a variety of subjects including the manufacturing of wine, European wine (French being far superior), the East, Africa, and America. The first English book that dealt with modern wines. It was very successful and went on to be published in two more editions, 1836 and 1851 respectively. 1833
